I am imaging Jol's time at Fulham is currently being measured on an hourglass. A couple of good results and he gets to turn the timer over. A few more poor results and the sand runs out.

So then the question becomes, who's next on the touchline at Craven Cottage? I guess it depends upon when Herr MJ leaves, eh?

Who would you LIKE to see succeed him, regardless of when it happens? If DiMatteo wouldn't take the Sunderland job, I doubt seriously we'd be on his radar either, don't you? Who else is umemployed right now, given that we probably aren't in a postion financially to steal (read buy) someone else's skipper?

Might be an egg timer soon if those results don't go his way

I say Jol stays until Crystal Place on the 21st. If we lose that game, then kick him to the curb and do not look back.

Why wait for 3 more inevitable losses? Now. Right now. Don't wait until Monday. Pull the trigger.

Here's my daily routine for the foreseeable future.

Wake Up. Check phone. Hope to see news of Jol's dismissal.

And then, one of two scenarios

It seems to me that the gap between the Stoke game on 10/5 and the Crystal Palace game on 10/21 would be a good opportunity for a new manager to get started. So, my guess is that Jol will be there for Stoke and then get canned.

I had really hoped to wake these past two days to the news that Jol had been canned.

According to the rumor that we'd been putting feelers out, he was going to be given 2 more games. As mentioned, that takes us to the int'l break, so that makes sense. Also if you look at staff, 3 of the 5 coaches are long-time Jol guys (one being his brother). If he leaves, you have to expect they'll go with him, so we're probably not in a position to do the interim thing without seriously disrupting the Academy staff. Taking all of that into acct, I'm thinking Jol won't be let go until a replacement is lined up and essentially agreed to takeover.

I'll be very disappointed if we're still auditioning Jol and giving him a chance to save his job.

So what happens if the squad goes out and plays their best match of the season and beat Stoke decisively?

Hopefully it's moot. I don't want to think about continuing on this merry-go-round from hell.

The way the team has been playing, I can almost guarantee that won't happen. They would/should have played their heart outs on Saturday at home if they really want him there. I almost suspect Brede was mailing it in because maybe he wants Jol out. I know he wouldn't do that, or I hope he wouldn't do that because he would ruin all the joy I had watching him over the years. They should be playing their hearts out no matter who is in charge or what they think of the manager though. But I just can't get over the shocking displays that have been put forth by the team. Jol may not be completely at fault if these professional players can't earn their pay check. But it's his job to light a fire under their asses if they're not performing. By gosh, make them sweat a little over the starting place...play some kids who would fight for a place if you must. Jeezy peeps, do something than the same old shit each week. I think that's where Jol started losing any support I had for him last year, when he said it was hard to stay motivated after 40 points. For peeps sakes, find something to motivate them--you're the manager (you know where you actually manage people). Just irritates me every time I think of him saying that crap. :angry-banghead:

    Interesting original post:

It’s time for Martin Jol to go. After nearly 18 months of rank underperformance, the Dutchman is a dead man walking. Passionless, tactically inept on the field and tediously repetitive with his blame-game tactics off it, Jol is remarkably lucky to still have a job. That needs to change right now.
When he took over this Fulham side, we were in a very good state; Europa League football, top 10 finishes and a home record that was the envy of the rest of the league. We now sit in the relegation zone, European football a far-fetched dream and without a home league win since the start of April. Regression seems too generous and sugar-coated a description.

Jol claims it is not his fault because his hands have been tied in the transfer market and Fulham is one of the lowest spenders in the Premier League. Who is he kidding? Of the side he inherited from Mark Hughes, only Steve Sidwell, Brede Hangeland and Damian Duff remain as first-team regulars; this is his team. He complains about lack of funds but at a conservative estimate, the board committed to around £25 million in wages over the duration of the contracts signed by new players this summer. That seems like backing to me.

When the increasingly dour-faced Dutchman arrived at the club, he expressed his desire to reduce the age of the squad. He has failed miserably. With one of the most celebrated and successful youth programmes in England, how many players have been promoted under Jol’s tenure? Not enough. Alex Kacaniklic is the only one to have played in the first team on a regular basis. Instead, Jol has added old legs on big money; rather than hunger and energy we have got pension-pot fillers with creaking knees.

Tactically, Jol has shown himself to be monstrously limited. Seemingly unaware of any weaknesses in the set-up of his side – paceless wingers, isolated full backs, lack of dynamism in central midfield, inability to defend set-pieces, tactical shapelessness… I could go on – he prefers to point fingers at his bosses for their lack of financial support and complain about ‘over-expectant’ fans.
As supporters who pay hard-earned money to watch our team play, we have every right to expect a level of performance from a team made up of internationals, and from a manager who gets paid a huge amount of money to pick and set up a team. We have reached a point where the level of performance is no longer acceptable; the buck stops with Jol.

The gutless performance at the weekend was one too many. The season is still young and there is time to bounce back and stave off the now real threat of relegation. But to achieve that, we need to start afresh; we need to get a manger in place who is capable of galvanising and organising a squad that is by no means short of quality. We’ve had enough of the excuses; Jol needs to go.

I was thinking the same thing. The TV commentators wondered if he was nursing an injury, because he definitely didn't look like the Brede we know. I think his heart just wasn't in it. Does that upset me? Yes. Can I live with it if it expedites MJ's exit? Yes.
