As a relative newbie to this game, I'm truly stumped by the manner in which players move to different teams. This one takes the cake. If a club as solid as Spurs can't prevent the Big Boys like the Bernabeuians from acquiring their best player, then what chance do the rest of us have? I find it incredibly discouraging that half a dozen or so clubs can dictate whom plays for whom on the entire REST OF THE BLOODY PLANET! In baseball, it's proven you can occasionally buy a World Series, but not over the long run. Or pretty much any of our major professional sports, although others will disagree. It seems, however, you can in futbol, thus the bottomless pocketed owners. I'll be very disappointed if Mr. Bale does, indeed, flee to Spain, because I think it hurts the sport. A lot. Quite frankly, I'm already getting weary of the hierarchy that seems entrenched in the biggest European leagues. The greatest thing about sports, in my opinion, is the ability of an individual or team to defy the odds, put it all together, transcend their previous form and talent, and pull off highly improbable upsets. That just doesn't seem to happen too often in soccer. And as long as the Real Madrid's and Manchester United's of the world can poach from the team that bought our two best players last season, what chance does anybody have of overturning the apple cart?
If Bale leaves Tottenham for Madrid, it's gonna suck.

The European leagues are based on monarchial foundations. The kings will continue to lord over all because they control the wealth and resources.

Sky reporting offer upped to a supposed world record amount of £85 million.
Insane. Did they learn nothing from Chelsea's lust for Torres? On second thought, I kind of like that one!

I don't know. Tottenham have stocked that team up quite well with the "Bale-out" money. I like how proactive they were in doing so too.

I will continue to watch the English league and -- when I get the opportunity -- the German League. The Spanish and Italian have little interest for me, because I think they're fixed. I will also continue to watch MLS, but not because I'm fed up with European monarchy. As a matter of fact, American rich-man socialist professional leagues piss me off even more. I'm going to watch because it's fun football. The more I watch MJSF, the more I need some end-to-end attacking stuff.
