I'm watching Sky Sports News [headline: Australian punches someone in a bar!!!!!!], and during the commercials, there's a lot of promotion for a new sports channel. Since they promote other things in the Fox realm on FSC, I didn't think much about it until the Memsahib mentioned that the August 17 debut sort of coincides with the beginning of the Prem season.

So, will there continue to be soccer coverage by Fox? It would be nice if they picked up the Bundesliga, also there's the Gold Cup, etc. Is the new, rebranded channel designed to add other sports to soccer and rugby, or will there be no more soccer at all?

Does anyone know the answer to any of these?

Yep, Heather's right. Fox Sports 1 (and Fox Sports 2, which is also supposedly on its way) will have soccer. Of course the Fox family of nets will have the WC in 2018 and 2022. In the meantime, they have the rights outlined in the Heather's link (UEFA CL, Europa League, CONCACAF CL, etc.) and it was announced last week that they picked up coverage of Euro 2016 qualifying and UEFA qualifying the for 2018 WC. It obviously won't be a dedicated soccer channel and their ability/willingness to pick up other leagues will probably depend on how their coverage of other sports shakes out.

Somewhat on topic, I would have to imagine that with the Bundesliga's higher profile these days, a deal will be done somewhere to bring those matches more visibility in the States. Or I could just be blindly hopeful on that.

I've come to the conclusion that if a foreign league is to succeed in viewership in the US, it better have its roots in English or Spainish speaking countries.

As others have mentioned Fox Sports 1 (and 2) will still carry all the Champions League and Europa League matches. I also read recently that Sky Sports News will still be shown on FS1 late at nights as I was afraid they would get rid of it. Also, they haven't totally squashed Fox Soccer Plus yet so that could still be around.

Also, Fox just bought the rights for Euro 2016 and UEFA qualifying for 2018, so they still look to be committed to soccer.

As for the Bundesliga, I think GolTV still owns the rights for one more season, but I am sure Fox, NBC, ESPN (or beIN) will buy those up once they become available.

It's also worth noting (I suppose it's appropriate here) that NBC has been heavily (and pretty well, I think) promoting the Premier League during its NHL Playoff coverage. Lots of fan-centric, atmospheric shots, playing up the passion of the dedicated supporters. For all the money they shelled out, I have to expect they'll do a decent job, but I suppose it remains to be seen.

One of the ads you can actually make out the Fulham Fans. In another they show some fans, not Fulahm, walking througha park, I wondered if it could have been Bishops Park? But I am sure there is another park somewhere that is near a stadium.

I believe they are also to cover the FA Cup (and poss Carling as well?).

Its obvious that they have had their collective noses put out of joint by NBC getting the BPL matches exclusively (I believe), and the fact that NBC is apparently showing all 10 matches FREE each week, tends to show Fox how they should treat their viewers, and it saves me 15 bucks a month to boot!! (Means more ESB)
