I'd take Bent in a heartbeat. Anyone notice the resemblance between Bent and Lebron James? The only difference is Bent is actually good looking.

Highly in favor of getting a proven goalscorer who has something to prove.

Bent is lazy and not a strong team player. He's also English and, so, is extremely over-priced. This is a guy who couldn't get a start for a team fighting for its life last season.

    I vote "pass."

I've never seen this laziness of which you speak. Personally I think that word is used too often to describe strikers with Jozy Altidore being one of the most popular targets of this criticism. Why he didnt start much last season is a mystery to me. He was Villa's leading scorer in the previous season. At the start of the 2012 season Bent was not only starting but he was Villa's captain, and Lambert changed that after one good performance by Benteke (which I think may not have even been a league game). I question Lambert more on the whole situation than Bent.

As far as being pricey, he is not young anymore and out-of-favor so maybe we can get a decent deal.

Bottom line is Bent scores goals and that is something we need.

Yeah, too bad. Would have been nice to see what he and Berba might have done together up front.

    Time to move on, though.

Looks like I may be wrong on Fulham not attempting another bid.

Listening to TalkSport earlier and they were reporting that Bent met with Newcastle and was not impressed with Joe Kinnear.

I will remind you in January that you were right.

I really like the idea of getting Bent. He's motivated to get back in the England squad. Will be fantastic news if it happens. I really dont understand what the heck happened with him at Villa, but it's their loss

$5mil seems like a good bit of business for a proven goalscorer that wants to prove he can still put it in the back of the net. I wonder what kind of weekly wages we are agreeing to here, which seems to be the hurdle other clubs couldn't get over...

All sorts of weird reports on Bent. Some tabloids are claiming Crystal Palace are now in the lead to sign him. And some are claiming Bent will sign for Fulham today. Transfer Madness. I would just like it to be over already, so I can deal with the prospects of Fulham's survival now.

What's going on with Bent now, any news? I'd like it to be over as well. I think Joe's assessment is spot-on, he does have a lot to prove. I don't think he's necessarily lazy or mercurial, he just didn't fit into his manager's plans. This seems to happen pretty regularly to strikers in the Premiership, so I wouldn't put it down to a character defect. The only problem is I'm not sure how well he'd fit into our plans, either. I think that keeping Berbatov happy and keeping Ruiz on the pitch and productive by using his talents properly are the two most important things we need to consider with any potential signing. I think he would work great as a support striker to Berbatov, because even as productive as Berba was, I'm not a huge fan of a 1 striker formation. Ideally, Berba and Bent would have an understanding and form a good partnership (although this isn't guaranteed). The issue is how two strikers impacts our midfield. I don't see Ruiz getting to play that creative attacking midfield role with two strikers. I like the idea of two wingers with a Central Defensive Midfielder and Central Attacking Midfielder, but I don't think there's any way Jol or any manager outside of Xbox or PS3 is going for that. I guess it's one of those things where if we get a player of Bent's quality, we can always figure it out, I just don't want to see Ruiz marginalized...

Latest from an "insider" on Tiff was basically terms were 99 percent done and should be at Fulham soon...but it's been a few days ago, so not sure. Just have to wait and see.

good news! although the loan thing worries me a bit. I know I dont understand much about the workings of premier league bidness, but I hope the loan doesnt mean he could be called back to Villa if Benteke gets injured.

Signing Bent sounds like good business but I am not sure I understand the thought process behindca loan unless there is an option.

Agree here with Mo and Barry. So assuming he comes and just starts scoring left and right or injury to Villa's star and poof. Stuck to January with three number 10s.
