I remember when I was a lonely voice on the Old FUSA.com defending Baird from the almost universal condemnation. It was good to see that, by the time, the new FUSA.com was created [thanks Senator and Godfather Mikey], most everyone had grown to appreciate the tough-as-nails NorIron. Best of luck in Shepherds Bush. Bairdinho!

One of two Fulham players I saw score a goal in person.

How versatile and reliable was this guy. Wishing him well down the road.

Allegedly, he also punched out Bullard on the training ground, for what it's worth.

    There's only one Chris Baird...

Well there was also the time on the old board when we all loved Bullard. When Baird punched Bullard that made me think Baird was a jerk so it was hard to like him. Then Bullard moved to Hull and we all learned who the jerk really was. I believe a Hull teammate punched him as well. Regardless, good call Don. You were right

I was a detractor (and his initial play was worthy of criticism), but I think in a strange way his punch to Bullard turned his career at the club around. He was always about the team and a consummate pro, which are traits "Arry is trying to bring to that train wreck.

Oh man, he was caught out at RB during the Sanchez debacle, but proved his worth over and over after that mess. I mean, Hodgson kept him around and I don't think Mr. Roy is one to throw a bone to anybody - he earned his place over the years, despite a rough going.

I admit, I disliked him in the first squad, initially, but over the 5+ years he served, I'm thankful that he was a White all of these years through the manner in which he did it: classy, hardworking and loyal. Best o' luck Mr. Baird, you'll be missed.
