Precourt Sports Ventures acquires Columbus Crew from Hunt family

SanFrancisco Crew sounds pretty nice and that YMCA-like logo will come full circle in the bay area. I'll not miss them one bit if they get out of Ohio. Pa lease do it.

 

No faith that a new owner will try and turn it around in Columbus? I am already hearing reports that he has no intention to move the Crew or make a major change in the colors but that the badge is likely on it way out the door.

 

Columbus fans are great and their attendance is better than the Fire, DC United, San Jose, New England, Chivas (obviously) so while everyone would like it to be larger I'm sure MLS does not view them as a club that needs to turn something around. Its the club itself that I have grown to dislike, and that has to do with a few players I grew to dislike as an Akron fan (one is the coach's son who drilled Darlinton Nagbe in the head in the NCAA tournament), and it has to do with their youth program. They prostitute their brand to youth clubs all over, reaching as far as Michigan. These clubs are too stupid and greedy to resist and the Crew pays no regard to how these clubs behave or operate. It is having a very negative impact on youth soccer in my area, and I bet it is impacting their attendance among the more knowledgeable and involved soccer fans, although that will have a minor impact at best

Would like nothing more than to see the Crew move far, far away.
