Bradley needs to just get the Egyptian team over here to the States to train and play friendlies v local teams. Surely the right people can make this happen, find them a place to train and stay.

^Damn. That pretty much sums it up though......

And Bob Bradley is indeed a man to be admired. Hoping the best for that guy.

Set your DVRs for this Thursday night. Bob Bradley will be the guest on the Daily Show.

Not even Bob Bradley could get me to watch that show. The trend of using pop culture and humor to promote a political agenda has been detrimental to healthy debate and the recognition of the need for individual critical thinking in this country.

Completely agreed. I liked it when Kilborn did it and it was more neutral.

Different strokes for different folks ... I'm just wondering two things:

    1. Which political agenda is it promoting

    2. and where has the "healthy debate" and "individual critical thinking" been hiding for the last 10-15 years?

Speaking of Kilborn - he was brilliant on that show. Great career move leaving it. I particularly enjoy the show and have watched since the inception - and I especially enjoy Stewart's delivery. The show does promote critical thinking - I don't agree with everything the show produces. But it's a comedy show, not a news show - often that fact is ignored.

They are promoting a liberal, democrat political agenda. Bill O'Reilly said so. So no further discussion needed. ;)

As Heather said, when Kilborn left, I thought I noticed a clear shift away from neutral humor that happened to revolve around the news to politically biased humor in favor of liberal democrats. I'm sure the SNL cast is mostly liberal democrats but I think their news-related humor is equal opportunity towards both conservatives and liberals. Humor is the litmus test. Perhaps for the Daily Show it is more difficult to make humor a litmus test when you have to put a show on every day, but Kilborn managed to do it.

Yes different strokes for different folks. You are probably surrounded by Republicans and see their group think. I happen to be surrounded by nothing but Democrats and see their group think, with no alternative position seriously considered. Hence my concern about "healthy debate and independent thought". In terms of the current Daily Show, I think it is making a certain point of view look cool and an alternative point of view stupid and uncool.

I definitely didn't mean to derail the Bob Bradley thread into a Daily Show thread. For what it's worth, I appreciate the impact a little levity can have on discourse, and while Stewart and co. can take the occasional cheap shot, I've always found him to be an excellent interviewer and respectful regardless of who's in the other chair.

In any event, he's off making a movie, so it will be John Oliver handling the Bradley interview.

It's fair to point out that Stewart played fitba at Bill and Mary. Oliver is a Brit, so he might know something about the game.

Good analysis, Mo. Being a liberal in Texas the closest I'm every going to get to being part of "the one percent."

How are they even playing amid everything going on? Great news though, but that home and away for the final qualification can be tough. Good luck to the pharaohs and BB

Will be curious who they have to play. If he guides this team to the WC you would think it would open all kinds of opportunities.

Saw they'd won last night. That's an impressive run Bob's got them on. Hope he and the team get that WC spot.
