I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday! In celebration of this great land and the great club we all love, I have a little story to share that I hope you will enjoy. Yesterday I was in Plymouth, MA visiting the Pilgrims Museum and I picked up a copy "of Plymouth plantation" by William Bradford, the wise and couragous governor of that settlement. If you are not familiar with this work, it is Bradford's first hand account of that settlement which marked the beginnings of our uniquely American government and values. Without a valid royal charter for establishing a settlement in MA, very different people with different ideologies decided to work together as a democratic community in order to survive. They made peace with the native Indians via a treaty which I believe is the only American/colonial-native Indian treaty that was never broken. Anyway, in my view, Plymouth was a very good start to our nation and something I enjoy reflecting upon on the fourth. The Fulham connection? Bradford's invaluable manuscript had been missing for nearly 100 years when it was discovered at the Bishop's library at Fulham Palace. With a bit of work on the part of an American senator, Fulham Palace graciously returned this important piece of American history free of charge to its rightful home in MA. Happy Birthday America and thank you Fulham
