An interesting article made fun due to its appropriate call out to Gentleman Jim. As a biased supporter, I've always loved listening to Jim and, even though I get to watch every match now, sometimes miss the days when the only way I could follow was by listening to Gentleman Jim's audio stream. Before reading the article, I just assumed that every team had their own Gentleman Jim. Now I appreciate Fulham and his work even more.

    • Sports commentary, by and large, is supposed to be impartial, or as close as maybe. The exception to that rule, certainly in the Premier League, is in-house commentary offered by the clubs themselves. If the Fulham commentator in Michael Cox’s feature doesn’t make you chuckle, there’s frankly no hope for you.

Thanks for posting this @astroevan ! I saw this while I was at work and wanted to share it here, but I forgot. GJ was pretty much the only way I could experience Fulham when I first started following them, so like you, I also thought every team had someone like Gentleman Jim. I'm also thankful that he's been allowed to do his thing.

I loved seeing his commentary from the Brentford match in print, because that was classic GJ. But he's also fun to listen to him complain about goalkeeper kits or stanchions blocking his view. Long live Gentleman Jim!
