Nigeria Out of World Cup

Nigeria will not play in the upcoming World Cup after losing on penalties to Democratic Republic of the Congo. Iwobi, Chukwueze, and Bassey all played. Unfortunately Bassey took the first penalty in the shoot out and sent it over the bar. Both goalkeepers made a number of saves in the shootout, so it isn't like Bassey's miss was decisive, but I'm still very worried about how this devastating loss will impact Fulham's Nigerian players. This is a huge disappointment for a team that was expected to qualify and they have a fan base that will pour out abuse on their players. This is just one more obstacle for Silva to have to deal with to keep Fulham out of a relegation fight.

 

I was thinking the same thing. I sure hope this isn’t a bellwether of Fulham’s season.
