As the late/great HatterDon would say ‘Fear the Turtle’ aka Maryland and he’d say for us to enjoy the pointy-end football.

    Games of the Week

#14 Tennessee at #24 NC State. Great QB matchup, would expect the Vols to wear them down, but this has ‘upset’ alert written all over it.

Colorado at Nebraska; Not sure if they will continue to play each other, but these schools don’t like each other and it’s another great QB matchup. Sanders has the edge in experience, while ‘Baby Mahomes’ Dylan Riaola (looks and plays like him), but it’s in Lincoln so I’ll take the Corn. @dtowndough, you making the road trip?

#3 Texas at #8 Michigan. This is a statement game for the Longhorns. Michigan lost so many players to the NFL and looked so poor offensively last week that it would seem impossible to win this game, but it’s moments like this that Sark’s teams over the years have come up short. Still will take UT

As an FSU alumnus my pointy-end football season got off to an early and ignominious start. I have to say that I was sick of all the whining and frankly didn't mind that they got beat down - twice! I hated the attitude and didn't mind that it blew up in their faces. Now I wonder what will happen the rest of the season with all these guys who came to a team that they expected would compete for a national title, but now can't even win the ACC.

Missouri is supposed to be good this year. I'm a fair weather Missouri fan. So with that being said: M-I-Z---Z-O-U! Unless they lose today then ignore my enthusiasm.

CU Fans falling apart over here. As a "transplant fan" it's kind of funny. As a season ticket holder it's infuriating.

More teams more problems, but more inclusion. The obvious problem w/new format is the seeding. However, the smaller conferences never would’ve gotten to this point w/out ‘their champ’ getting the bye. That will have to be tweaked, the #1 Oregon has the toughest Quarterfinal despite playing the 8/9 seed. Conversely, how did Penn State (who has not beat anyone) get SMU, then Boise State to get to Final 4??

#10 Indiana at #7 Notre Dame. Hoosier state hysteria, like the Irish to wear them down, but wouldn’t be surprised if IU pulls off upset

#11 SMU at #6 Penn State. Penn State should absolutely roll.

#12 Clemson at #5 Texas. Strange to think of Clemson as being huge underdogs, but they are. However, will Quinn Ewer’s of bad turnovers keep Dabo in it?

#9 Tennessee at #8 Ohio State: Its going to be frigid in Columbus, but the hot seat Ryan Day is on is intense. Will take the Buckeyes, but if the Vols can get going early, the Horseshoe might turn on Day mid-game.

Speaking of playoffs, Our resident Ivy Leaguer @sacffc can look forward to his Alma Mater (Princeton) and the rest of the Ivy’s being eligible to join the D2 playoffs starting next year (approved by the powers that be this week).

I've been thinking for the past number of years that college football should align itself like the FA. Conferences and rivalries largely make this proposal DOA, but what if you created a bunch of tiers with 13 or so teams that included promotion and relegation. No more patsy games against FCS opponents - just the best teams playing each other every single week. I'd be way more excited about this than I am by watching Ohio St open their season against Akron, W Michigan, and Marshall.
