Fulham at Tottenham

Fulham travels across town Sunday to take on Tottenham. The early kickoff is at 8:30am EST.

Two weeks ago I felt like Fulham was well positioned for a tough run in December. That feeling evaporated last weekend. Andersen will be out for multiple games, Cuenca and Sessegnon will miss the Tottenham match. Reed is still out. Lukic did not look at 100%. This leaves the defense in poor shape. Add on to that the poor performance last week and things feel grim already.

Tottenham were flying high after crushing Manchester City, but the midweek draw against Roma felt like a loss after taking a lead into injury time. They also had to put in full shifts from some key players so hopefully they won't have as much spark against Fulham.

Getting any points from this one will be a good result and help put the Wolverhampton match in the rear view. Without Andersen though I think that will be very difficult.

 

I didn’t think Nelson’s play would leave me missing Traore, but here I am. After Robinson intercepted a pass a took the ball all the way to the Spurs box, Nelson made no effort to cover for him and at one point was walking away from Johnson right before he scored the Spurs goal.

Otherwise, another performance where Fulham could have (should have?) gotten all three points. Cairney strike was beautiful. Fulham needs a bit more of that.

 

@astroevan I had the very same feeling about Nelson. There were a couple of equivalent lapses from Fulham, but that was the one Spurs took advantage of. Carney's stupid red card foul was the other big lapse that may have cost Fulham.

However, on a whole, that went better than I expected. Diop was reliable at the back and the midfield did well without Pereira - two big concerns at kickoff for me. Once again Fulham should have scored more (although Spurs will feel the same about their chances) so this will go down as another that they could have gotten more from. After going down to 10 men again I was perfectly satisfied with a draw. The substitutions worked well and even nearly got a late winner thanks to Wilson's efforts.

All in all, a good recovery this week in some less than ideal circumstances.

 

Weird/fun game. After the first ten minutes I thought we were in for a thumping. Then we were the better side for like the next fifty or so minutes. Definitely deserved a point for the day.

I like Nelson going forward in attack, but that's about all he does well.

I loved Robinson's motor as usual, but a couple passes left a little to be desired.

TC's shot was great. The red card seemed harsh. The slow motion seemed to make it look worse than it was.

Overall glad I got up for it this morning.
