Been a rough year, I generally go to half a dozen Halo games, but my only form of protest when your team is run by the worst owner in sports is not to give them money. Last night’s events in Miami did give cause to pause at least to talk about sheer greatness and how Arte Moreno’s utter ineptitude let the Goat get away to Big Brother.

How about this stat line; 6 for 6, 3 HRs, 2 doubles, 10 RBI, & 2 Stolen Bases to become the first player in the 50 HR/50 SB Club. Shohei Ohtani is 1 of 1, who in his 7th season of doing things no one has, needs to berecognized as the greatest player ever to lace them up. There are rumblings out here that he’s ramping up and preparing to possibly pitch in relief in the playoffs.

Postseason around the corner, and even for sufferers like myself, I’ll be able to watch and just enjoy the sport since playoff baseball is awesome.

I was honestly sick of hearing Ohtani talk about three games into the season. It’s pretty amazing that it’s all been warranted. The guy can rake. (I still hope the Dodgers bomb out early though.)

I didn’t get to make my annual pilgrimage to Busch Stadium this season, but I did see them once at Great American Ballpark. They lost.
83-79 is an improvement from last season, by twelve wins, but everybody knows that ain’t gonna cut it in Cardinal Nation. Making the post season is the minimum expectation every season. Change is coming but not necessarily quickly. Presser today was about spending more on player development and less on payroll. Really nothing about being post season contenders NEXT season. Bill DeWitt III outlined changes to improve the fan experience in light of consecutive losing seasons guaranteeing lower ticket sales and attendance. St. Louis fans only want one fan experience: a contending team.

Dodgers v Padres is going to be epic. Networks praying Mets get by Milwaukee tonight so they can get a New York v Phillies in the other Divisional Series.

It’s the Yankees vs the AL Central . The Wildcard round couldn’t go any better for NY fans. Detroit who had a .5% (yes, less the 1 percent) chance to make the playoffs in mid-August somehow got in and stunned the Astros. They will take on Cleveland while the Royals upset Baltimore and setup a reunion of the late 70’s/early 80’s when NY and KC had some memorable playoff clashes.

    Die Yankees Die.

You’re right about the networks getting their wish. But I’m rooting for the underdogs. Let’s go AL Central. Let’s go Padres. Screw everyone else.

(Though this is possibly a bit sarcastic coming from a fan of the team that everyone else is also sick of seeing in the playoffs,)

I agree on everything. Though it would be sweet, looking at 'least worst' matchups if:
1: Padres against NYY and take it in 4. Meaning they crushed Ohtani fanboyz dreams.
    - Note I think Ohtani is great. Just the concept is my problem. Hell, I rooted against NYY when they had Mantle and Maris.
2: Mets v NYY and club the Yankees like baby seals in game 7...AT YANKEE STADIUM!
There's all kind of permutations at this point.... But after enjoying watching the Reds up till they were out of it, doesn't take much to amuse me.

I haven't given much thought to baseball in decades, but when I did, I liked the Mets (Gary Carter was my fav). @pettyfog you awakened a glimmer of my younger self and put a smile on my face with this line:

Nightmare 1 done..Dodgers beat Padres. It’s down to Mets and/or Yankees (Cleveland/Detroit can’t) to knock off the Blue Poo or else I’m gonna have to turn off my phone for awhile.

I put twenty bucks on the dodgers before the season started, so with that being said, GO DODGERS!

@stlouisbrad Your $20 bet looking better after Game 1. Had to turn my phone off as my Blue Poo fans exulted after a dramatic walkoff from an injured player as Freddie Freeman qued up his Kirk Gibson Game 1 WS heroics imitation.

BREAKING NEWS: Shohei Ohtani cuts a fingernail a little too close - may experience slight discomfort when high-fiving teammates!

I was hoping for the sweep last night, just so we could put an end to the circus and return to our normal news cycles.
