Yeah, I'm going there. Because of the World Baseball Classic, players committed to participating in that exhibition must report earlier, so.... WBC pitchers and catchers must report by Monday, Feb. 13th, position players by Thursday, Feb. 16th. Everybody else's pitchers and catchers are reporting either Feb. 15 or 16th (except Cleveland who, inexplicably, are last on the 17th in Goodyear). The rest are reporting either the 20th or 21st, including the Guardians.
Opening Day is Thursday, March 30th, with two 1:05 Eastern starts in New York and Washington. The Giants are visiting the Bronx to begin the season, and Atlanta travels to the Capitol to face the Nats. All 30 teams are scheduled for action on Opening Day this year, concluding with three 10 o'clock Eastern contests out west. The Angels go to Oakland, Arizona travels to Chavez Ravine to face the Dodgers and Cleveland is at Seattle to finish the evening's festivities. The defending champion Astros hosts the Pale Hose at 7:10, traditional season opening Cincinnati welcomes the Pirates, and Toronto gets to see the Clydesdales at Busch.
There's a natural uptick in orders at the ol' Louisville Slugger factory, but the only ones I've seen are minor leaguers: Trey Cabbage, Kevin Alcantara and Henry Davis.
But the big boys are comin.'
