Went to my second match this season last night at Lynn Family Stadium for Louisville City FC vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies. We've lost to the Rowdies each of the last two seasons in the playoffs, last year in the Eastern Conference Final at Al Lang Stadium. The club spiced this regular season tilt up with some promotions: a blackout, post match fireworks, t-shirt, poster and clapper giveaways, food trucks, and $2 pre-match "FanZone" beer. And the debut of the new, all-black, gold numbers and letters, etc., third kit to go along with the black out. It worked. 14,637 was the announced attendance. I've seen different numbers on what an all seats sold sellout is, but the capacity is 15,304 including standing room. There were empty seats scattered here and there, but the place looked full and, more importantly, sounded full. Fairly even match, even though Lou City dominated possession. Substitute striker Wilson Harris nipped in on a back pass to a Tampa Bay center back, shrugged him off, and fired in a left footed screamer for the only score. Oh, and the weather cooperated too.
