Bettinelli's move was especially surprising given that all the chatter was saying he wanted a starting spot - not the chance to fight for a starting spot that Fulham was offering. Now he'll be even further removed from a starting position in the #3 role, meaning he won't be in the lineup for most matches and may not even get a start. Another piece of evidence that "chatter" is mostly trash.

Did his dream include him riding the pine the entire time (except for maybe the Cantaloupe Cup) ?

Wow. Six years ago already. I remember when I thought this kid was the next big thing.

    15:44 ROBERTS LEAVES ON LOAN

Patrick Roberts is set to join Manchester City’s sister club Troyes on a season-long loan.

The deal will take him up to the end of his current City contract and be his sixth loan since moving to the Etihad from Fulham.

Like Sess, he got the curse of signing with a big money club with all it's attention on European trophies. Had he gone to a club like Crystal Palace or Wolves, he'd gotten more matches and felt part of an actual team.

I cannot verify this at the moment, but I feel like he also met some "homegrown" quotient for City at the time. Oh well...

    This one is for @HatterDon
His boy Cauley hit a peach of a free kick to get Barnsley a draw with Stoke (along with some magical goalkeeping too). Feel free to watch the rest of the highlights to see a missed PK and FOUR red cards! (Well, only one was given to a field player but still that's a lot of reds)

I'm guessing that Barnsley's MOtM is their keeper

The EFL Cup match between Manchester City and West Ham had an interesting pairing of goalkeepers for those of us in this forum - US goalkeeper Zack Steffen and former Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. Both played well in a scoreless draw that went to PK's, but Areola had a particularly good night weathering over 20 shots from City. Steffen managed to get hands on two different shots in PK's but it was never enough to keep the balls out of the net. Foden's wide shot on the first PK meant Areola and West Ham celebrated knocking out City and preventing them from winning a fifth straight EFL Cup.

Denis Odoi was on the score sheet for Club Brugge today. I happened to turn the game on and he scored seconds later.

Remember Patrick Roberts? Citeh signed him from us in 2015. Over the course of his career there, he made a whopping 3 appearances for them before spending the rest of his time there on loan: Celtic, Girona, Norwich City, Middlesbrough, Derby County and Troyes before signing with Sunderland in January. Last night he scored the goal that beat Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough to put them into the League One playoff final at Wembley against Wycombe on 21 May.

I watched the highlights for the Sunderland/Wednesday match and I had no idea that Patrick Roberts was THAT Patrick Roberts! Thanks for making the connection @jumpkutz

Yeah, I kept thinking, wow, that name sounds familiar. Citeh really screwed him. He scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for Celtic in 2016-17, the only season he's made more than 17 appearances...with us in '14-'15. And he's only 25. Is he worth another chance? Sunderland have an option to extend him, but will they? Don't know if he's had a lot of injuries, but he was highly rated at one point in his career.

young promising players shouldn't go from Fulham to any of the top 4 ... if there's any chance at all, they'll have to waste 2 or 3 seasons

witness, Ryan Sessengon, who is just now becoming a regular for Spuds.

Jean Michael Seri stunned everyone by scoring the 93rd minute winner in his opening match with Hull against Bristol City. Seri went almost the entire season with Fulham last year without finding the back of the net.

Another perspective: Fulham scored 104 goals before Seri scored his lone goal.

If one of Fulham's promising youth stars had to get their first Premier League goal for their new club yesterday I'm glad it was Ryan Sessegnon and not Carvalho or Elliott! Sessegnon got Tottenham's first goal of the season and his first for the club, which surprised me since he signed back in 2019. Despite the goal he was still pulled at 66 minutes in favor of 33 year old Ivan Perisic, so it looks like he still has more to prove to get regular playing time, but he is making progress under Conte.

In other alumni news, I enjoyed this little flashback from Men in Blazers on an incident involving Clint Dempsey (and my favorite Premier League player named "Micah"!):

No one can start the FUSA Sacking Pool thread other than @jumpkutz :p! So until that happens, I'm tucking this little nugget over here in the Fulham Alumni thread: Scott Parker got sacked. It felt like it was only a matter of time, but I'm still a bit surprised Bournemouth pulled the trigger so soon. My wife always liked watching Fulham when Parker was standing handsomely on the sideline and I told her the one plus out of all this is that Scott would now have more time to spend with her!

Carvalho w/match winner for Pool (last
Kick of the match, 2 minutes after stoppage was supposed to be over). Elliot was absolutely fantastic and is blossoming. Seeing Elliot & Carvalho hug after the game frankly made
me whistful of what might of been.
