    It’s deadline day. 6pm EDT.

I expect a few departures but don’t foresee any additions - which will be nice to not have to adjust or fit in new pieces. The team is in excellent shape and, as long as the back line can stay healthy, should be hard to beat all season long.

One signing that didn't get announced until after the window had closed and a loan that was announced shortly before that (the loan window is still open).

Fulham signs midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah from Watford. He played well for Watford last year in the Championship, but wasn't part of their plans for the Premier League. That makes me wonder a little why Fulham signed him - there is already a pretty solid midfield and if Fulham is promoted will he be able to start?

Fulham also brought in ANOTHER mid-fielder from Watford - Domingos Quina. Um, okay.

We'll see what happens, but was this a case of Tony being nose-down in a spreadsheet and not looking at who is already in the squad?

EDIT: Okay, I have to take back my comment about Tony after further reading. Silva signed Chalobah when he was at Watford so he is clearly familiar with him. And with Cairney and Reed dealing with persistent injuries (and Anguissa gone), maybe some more midfield help is a good idea.

The signings make sense if you consider a few things:

Cairney is, sadly, toast. He hasnt played any sustained football since November of last year. There's no reports I'm aware of that he's even had an operation, which leaves his status quite nebulous.

Anguissa is gone, so we need a number 8. Reed isn't really that player, and Onomah is growing into the role. But, both dont have a great track record of staying healthy. Francoise is still a bit too young.

Carvalho, though extremely promising, needs some cover both physically and corporally. He has just 6 total appearances for the club, and worryingly has been getting kicked around a ton. Having the flexibility for him to come on as a substitute at will is crucial.

I'm sort of waiting for Tony to stop being the Universal Scapegoat.

Better chance of buying ocean front property in Topeka then Tony avoiding being the scapegoat HD. He checks off every box needed to be reviled.
