I was recently talking to a Brit about England's national team being considered strong because the vast majority of their players working in the EPL. I pointed out that, yes, it's a great league but ... of all the sides that took part in the last Prem season, only two clubs had as their best player an England international. Those two, in my humble opinion, were Aston Villa's Grealish and Spuds' Harry Kane.

It got me thinking about MLS. Is there an American who is the best player on his team RIGHT NOW? I haven't followed MLS for a long time, and I only know MLS players when they appear for the national team. So, is there one?

Off the top of my head ….

    Definite:
Caden Clark - NYRB signed by Leipzig

    Pretty easy argument for:
    Walker Zimmerman - Nashville
    Gianluca Busio - SKC
Kellyn Acosta or Cole Bassett - Colorado

    Weaker argument for:
Jordan Morris - Seattle but he is one of 3
    Bill Hamid - DCU
James Sands - NYCFC very good but not flashy

The team is a mess but maybe:
    Ricardo Pepi - Dallas
    Cade Cowell - San Jose

Busio for sure, but he’s not long for MLS (HD, read his story on the Gold Cup thread).

Morris was Seattle’s best player, but that injury while on loan for Swansea looked really bad.

Don’t know enough about Orlando, but would Dike be added to your list @BarryWhite ?

@SoCalJoe - Right now I would say Nani has been Orlando’s best player. If Dike stays he could overtake Nani but right now he has only played a couple of matches and Nani is in the MVP conversation.
