Gonna piggyback off a point @HatterDon HD made in the Nations League thread about how the US plays. Is there a single person other then his brother (nepotism at its worst) that thinks Berhalter is the man to get the best out of this group? Obviously he’s here for now, but the second the US is in trouble making the WC or the second they can’t get out of the group stage in Qatar he has to go.

I asked my son last night 'why the hell is that guy the head coach?' He said nobody else must've wanted it.

You can question his tactics or team selection but Weston running over to hug Berhalter after his goal tells me that Berhalter has created a culture that has players willing to run through walls for him.

@BarryWhite I did notice that hug, and I would gladly eat crow if it would mean success for our team. I’m not going to let a magical night in Denver, thank goodness for the El Tri offside otherwise it’s 2-0, to change my mind. Like you said the team selection was seriously questionable, but give the man credit, the team showed serious grit.

@SoCalJoe - No expectations that one match would win folks over but thought he deserved credit for rebuilding the USMNT culture after the demolishing done by his predecessor.

82:30…..When the coach we are counting on not to repeat a national embarrassment decided to sub..WTF?!?!? We needed fresh legs for a good 15 minutes. Utter incompetence.

The Honduras match is a referendum on GB. How has the team accepted the McKennie penalty? Can he figure out a way not to have Pulisic coming so deep for the ball? Pulisic’s comment about ‘we need to come up with some new ideas’ is a direct plea to the coach. A bad loss and I’d go Lane Kiffin on him (Kiffin while at USC got fired on the tarmac after an away loss).

Add delusional to Berhalter’s shortcomings. Perhaps we deserved something from the match, but the press room should’ve laughed out loud at his comments.

I’ve seen Canada 3 times this cycle, when their coach puts them in a team circle, he is in total command and looks like a great motivator. In other words the exact opposite of what I get from our guy.

This thread is like a trip to the therapy
couch for me. I hope he makes me eat my words and we escape the group, but the second we flame out, Berhalter needs to be fired Lane Kiffin style (Kiffin was fired on the tarmac and didn’t even take the team bus when sacked at USC).

Brian McBride (along with the leaders on the team!!) needs to intervene behind the scenes to make sure GB selects the best players. Berhalter preaches taking the guy’s that are in form….but what does it tell the squad if Ream & Pefok aren’t picked for November? We played Japan like a team that doesn’t believe in the gaffer.
