I think it's hilarious that Tottenham is included. They haven't won anything in decades.

Oh, and speaking of Spuds ... bye bye Jose!!!!

I think it's interesting that no German or French clubs bit on this "concept." Gooners haven't won squat lately either, but fans equal money, and they've still got a lot of them worldwide. Greed is an amazing motivator. I'll stick with my club on the Thames, please.

This seems like an incredibly short-sighted money grab. If it becomes reality it will make the Premier League a lot less interesting. With only five open slots for all the other European teams to fight over it could make the top half of the table irrelevant some seasons. Once most the "founding" teams figure out halfway through the season they can't win the Premier League, why even bother putting out competitive teams? Just save top players for the Super League. How boring. Then they've dramatically reduced the chances for an exciting run from a team like Ajax or Atalanta.

And within 24 hours of announcing their Super League it is seemingly a super bust with as many clubs pulling out as remain. Talk about misreading a situation, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many billionaires back pedal so quickly.

Hats off to Paris St. Germain and Bayern Munich for refusing to consider. That pretty much killed it right there.

Not to play the Old Guy card too much -- if it CAN be played too much -- I remember this being mooted 10 or so years ago and being laughed at.

Well that came and went so fast I didn't even have time to look into it. Glad that everything is back to the status quo.

    Dear JP Morgan,

Considering there are now vacancies in this league, I am hereby ready and willing to play in this league and get the billions of dollars on hand. I accept paypal and venmo.

    Thank You.

This idea is like Schwarzenegger at the cop shop: "I'll be back."
It'll be back. And back, and back, and back, probably until it sticks. The only variable is time, because money doesn't talk, it screams. And, eventually, it'll scream loud enough to push it over the edge.

Was looking forward to this morning's United v. Liverpool match. As I watched the chaos, it occurred to me that had this been an American professional sport, the home team's failure to have the match venue secured and ready to go, would result in a forfeit for the home team.

Then it occurred to me, that if it DID work that way in England, Man U fans would have just secured the league championship for Man City.

I think the most appropriate adjective I heard used was snakes.

I am not overly shocked the Super League dangled greed in front of FIFA to garner their favor.
