What we need is a second coming of Brede Hangeland. How do we find one?

In the RB spot, perhaps we're okay with what we have? I know it might be controversial to say. Perhaps with a less reckless tactical approach, our defenders would not be put under as much pressure.

If they don't have a new CB by the time the season kicks off, I'll be furious. Wonder if Brede's got any kids. If he does I'm sure they got to be over 6 feet by now. Sign them up!

I think his loan deal technically ended August 1 (according to Transfermarkt). IIRC he got hurt in the season finale vs Wigan, but wasnt named to the squad for any of the playoff matches, and didn't even partake in the match/celebrations at Wembley.

According to talksport there was also a minimum match requirement for his deal to be made permanent, but I also imagine Bournemouth's relegation tipped their hand in wanting to keep him.

Overall disappointing for him who, although a hot head and very occasionally not worth the headache, played a pivotal role at key moments for us. Would he have been helpful in the EPL? Probably not. Alas.

Not a player transfer, but Scott Parker has signed a three year contract that keeps him in charge until 2023.

side note: the offal has been redesigned - it's much more modern

According to the offal, Luca de la Torre rejected a new offer from Fulham. I hadn't heard this before. Matt O'Riley has also left but I haven't seen where he's ended up.

Mawson is loaned out to Bristol City:
    https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2020/september/Mawson-s-Loan/

Mawson has had continual trouble with injuries and didn't do great the last time Fulham was in Premier League, but this makes me think there must be something in the works for another CB. If not, hopefully Tony Khan knows that tanking in the Premier League does not have the same benefits as in the NFL. Side rant - I really hate what they are doing with the Jags right now. Angling for draft picks is no way to run a successful team or business.

Good loan for Mawson, reminds me of Gooch, never the same after the knee injury.

The window doesn’t close until Oct 5, so we are going to have to try and be patient since most activity will be the last 72 hours.

Side note: The Jags situation is a head shaker. Poppa Khan hired football people to make decisions, but the crazy part is they constructed a championship level team, and instead of taking the last step they let a little drama ruin it and now they are tanking.

Our new goalkeeper's last name makes me want to giggle like a 12-yo boy. So immature.

Did we need him? Yes. Probably. But he shouldn't just walk in as #1. Rodak earned his shot at the Premiership.

Official news from the club on Alphonse Areola:
    https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2020/september/Areola-Joins-On-Loan/

He's already an improvement over the keepers Fulham got after promotion last time since it is clear from his interview that his English is pretty good. He'll at least be able to communicate with the defense.

I hope he gets a shot as soon as he's comfortable with the defense. I don't think Fulham stays up without making an improvement over Rodak.

The Areola deal isn't going over too well on social media, but I think it's a good deal.

We have no idea if Rodak is premier league quality or not, but we do know the current backup Bettinelli is not (he's mid-tier Championship level). So a backup that can push the starter, if not take over, is needed. Agree that Rodak should start the season, but good to know we have a plan B.

It appears that you're not the only one that thinks this as Betts has been loaned out to Middlesbrough for the season.

The team has also announced the signing of right back Kenny Tete. This would lead me to believe that Odoi will see more time in the middle if Fulham hold on to both him and Christie.

Can Ola Aina play in the center of defense?

At least 3 times a day I go to the Fulham site and while it's loading. I keep saying in my head, "Please let us sign a proven Defender, Please let us sign a proven Defender, Please let us sign a proven Defender." Then the pages loads and and we've done nothing. Then the expletive's start. Sign somebody already!

To use a baseball analogy, we have a bunch of AAA and a 1/2 players. Fantastic in the Championship, but unable to compete in the ‘Big Leagues’. This squad at that level would easily be a playoff team and a favorite for automatic promotion. No need to slag the guys who’ve been faithful servants to the club, the Prem is another level and athletically speaking we simply don’t match up.

I’m not in the sack Parker camp (yet), we are taking a knife into a gun fight. Tony apologized to the supporters on twitter, that dude has a week to add talent that can compete and have a chance of 17th place. BTW, 17th has 1 more point the we do.
