The rumors around Robinson seem to have more traction than most.

    https://hammyend.com/index.php/2020/08/robinson-set-for-fulham-medical/

As a biased American, I like Robinson (even though he hasn't shown very good form with the national team) and this will provide some cover for Bryan.

As a biased Fulham fan, I'd prefer to hear more rumors about experienced Premier League defenders though.

Robinson IS the flavor of the week, but I doubt he'd want to come here and sit on the bench every week. If you look at the #1s on the Fulham home page, you'll see that Bryan was statistically our best attacker and our best defender -- and was second in the goal provider list.

Not getting another quality left back would be malpractice. People get hurt and have dips in form. Ream is too slow. After that, Fulham has no one. I don't know if Robinson is the answer, but as good as Joe Bryan has been, competition can make him even better. And I wouldn't be surprised if we lined up with 5 in the back against the likes of Man C and U, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc.

I’m not that crazy about the Callum Wilson chatter. He scored six fewer goals in six more appearances this season than last. If he scores 14 league goals instead of nine, maybe, just maybe, his team would still be in the PL.

What he does is described by the Brits as "doing the running for _______"
    He excels at this.

My 2 cents on Parker... While I'm not sure if he is the best option to keep us up, Fulham have got to show some faith in SOMEBODY to give us some stability at the top. We can't go on changing managers every few months when things go poorly. I think Parker has the potential to be a good manager and he should be given a chance, a real chance to do the job.

Thanks for the link. Otherwise, I'd have never learned this about the lad: "His mother, Anne Bang, is the director of stem cell biology at the Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics, part of the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla, California. His father, Juan de la Torre, is a professor in the department of immunology and microbiology at the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego."

Do we need another right back, or are we okay going into the Premiership with Odoi, Christie and S. Sessegnon? I think each has real quality but the first two made serious mistakes at this level last time, and Sess is inexperienced.

I totally agree with your conclusion. It was mind boggling to me two years ago that Fulham played in the Premier League with less quality at right back than what they had in the Championship with Fredericks. They cannot repeat that mistake again. Along with a right back, I'm still desperately hoping for another CB and a keeper. I have found it interesting that a keeper hasn't been on the wish list of others (like this article from the HammyEnd https://hammyend.com/index.php/2020...then-to-be-competitive-in-the-premier-league/) but I don't think the guys we have are what Fulham needs.

Odoi and Christie won't look that bad if the center is fixed.

That's possible, if a risk. If they have better outlets in the midfield and up the wings, that might improve things. More often than not, I thought the mistakes two years ago were due to panic and the rigid style, to not having a good option. With better partners and a mix of playing out of the back and a more direct style, Odoi or Christie could still work out. But not Le Marchand, who's just bad, and any time he comes on, I expect a calamity, and he usually delivers on the expectation. We need to try to offload him.

We missed the target on keepers last time. If we get someone new, he would have to be an improvement over Rodak. Mattia Perin is no van der Sar, and hasn't played for too long. I feel bad for Betts, but I don't think he ever gets a sniff at playing time in the Prem; just not good enough.

Having seen the Smalling rumors, I'd so love to see a Smalling/Hector pairing in the middle (sorry, Tim).

Getting Anguissa back could be great if his attitude is right, but we still need to make a move for Reed. We need to have at least two quality options at every position, and McDonald and Arter are a step below Reed. I am not certain we need to spend money on someone like Florentino Luis if we can keep Reed.

We need to try to get money for Seri. I'm not a big fan of a Babel swap--he's past his prime. I'm more nervous about our central creative midfield than the wings. Cairney didn't cover himself in glory two years ago, and Onomah's Tottenham experience in the Prem is 3-4 years gone. Johansen can't step up to the Prem level, and we probably should let him go. If we want to be a ball-playing team, we need skill and confidence in the middle, but this is where big money gets involved and a wrong arrival can cause damage. I hope Tony Khan listens to Parker and we don't splash out on someone just because their stats look good. I'd rather we keep faith in who we have (Cainey/Onomah) than screw things up.

We may be okay out wide (Cavaleiro/Kebano on the left, the two AKs on the right), but we need to get someone as good as Mitro (money, again) to share the load at striker. Is Eberechi Eze that person?

To me, this season is all about survival. No matter where in the table we end up as long as it's 17 and above. Then we can get some stability and start building on it. This might mean that the U23 and academy talents might not see many first-team minutes, unfortunately.

It's hard -- and possibly unfair -- to look too closely at individual performances the last time we were in the Prem. We started off the season with a suicidal game plan that we held strong to until Joka was fired. Then came the extended exhibition series under the new gaffer. Once he figured out who he wanted to play where, HE was fired, and that left Scottie to pick up the remnants of a football team.

With a sensible, coherent style of play and tactics from the getgo, I think all of our performers could have done better individually.

As for who should come on board, I'd just like to see shoring up our potential weaknesses and going for someone to pair up with Mitro. Two years ago, it was like somebody in the front office looked at season stats from FIFA2018 [is that still around? I don't play those] and spent all our money on game-boy superstars.

Old time members may remember that we had a contributor who, every summer, would recommend players who were playing in Korea, Belarus, and Cambodia. None of the rest of us had ever heard of the players -- and often not the clubs -- but it took me a full year to realize that he was culling names off his gaming device. I have a feeling Mr. Khan the Younger was doing the same. Perhaps he won't do it this time.

Thoughts about Lemina? Does the play the same position as Reed? I'm thinking this means McDonald moves away or into coaching, especially if Anguissa stays. What about Arter?

Anyways, it's good to have Reed secured permanently.

It is great to have Reed. Nice to know that Fulham's midfield at least won't be taking a step backward as they head up to the Premier League.

From what I've seen Lemina is supposed to be pretty versatile as a midfielder so if he were to replace anyone on the current roster, Johansen would be at the top of my list. Depending on how he's played I could see him cutting into Onomah's time. I think it seems like a good signing - someone with PL experience who could fit in a couple different places as needed.

Less than two weeks to go. Sure would like to see an RB and a CB added to the roster.
