I hope he has better luck with calf strains than I do. Of course he is under 45 yrs of age so that bodes well in his favor.

I'll bet your calf is more attractive though.

That's all in the eye of the beholder Don. Personally I'd rather take a gaze at his calf.

Anyway, only just now realizing we have WC qualifiers coming up in March and Dempsey will be playing very few if any minutes prior to it. I guess he'll be rested though. Half full or half empty?

Well, if he is held back for the next round, JK will have the perfect excuse for us missing out on the WC finals. Donovan and Dempsey will get the blame.

With or without Demps/Donovan, Costa Rica at home should be a win. Mexico away was always going to be a loss. Given all of the draws in the first round, a win and a loss wouldn't be bad. A draw and a loss (or worse), would start nail biting around the country.

Don't look now, but Spurs have been lights out since Deuce has been out. Gonna be interesting to see how AVB handles him when he's fit again.

Holtby is a more than couple of steps down, and Sigurdsson is a pale imitation. The fact is that Spurs were lights out before he got injured also. As soon as Clint is fit, they'll both be back on the bench.

I dunna know, Sig has had a few good showings in a row. Demps won't walk back into the first 11, but give him a week or two of fitness and he'll be back in the mix.

Meanwhile, on a pitch far, far away, our hero.....

Was about to be subbed off for Sigurdsson again when he saved Spuds bacon today. Set it on a silver platter for Adebayor, who hadn't done squat up 'til then.
Oh, and he also scored the equalizer before that.
May come to nothing if Arse win, but they can't blame Dempsey if they don't make it into the CL next year. And they WILL lose Bale if they don't.

He just has an uncanny nose for goal and ability to make things happen. Man, do we miss that at Fulham.

I hope they can make it in this year. Just need Arsenal to somehow choke this thing.

Love that kid. Don't think he is regretting the move. And as a USMNT supporter, tough for me to argue. As a Fulham supporter, I miss him tremendously.

Can't for the life of me figure out why AVB subs him out around the 70-75 minute mark. He's so effective late in games when you need a goal to tie or lead. Can only figure he's trying to keep Sigurdsson and Holtby happy, but I think he's costing his team goals....and points. And they came up one point short this year.

And now word that Klinsmann has named Dempsey captain "moving forward." A great honor for Clint. And for me, a further sign of JK shaking things up. I really like the decision, though. It's impossible not to respect the approach he takes to the game. I certainly can't speak to his demeanor in the dressing room or the practice field, but even if he's more of a lead-by-example than rally-the-troops type captain, I think the rest of the squad will respond.
