I decided to take my 10 year old daughter over for the final match of the season against Newcastle. She has not been to a Fulham match yet so I want to give her a proper introduction. I figured, you never know how long it might be before the Whites get back up, although we all hope immediately but it could be years. I wanted her first match to be a Premier league one so I pulled the trigger. This is a daddy and daughter trip only, so I am very much looking forward to it (except maybe the day we go to Harry Potter World). Staying out in Henley travelling in to London by train.

Sitting in the Haynes stand, slightly towards the Hammersmith end, row 2 uncovered (don't forget poncho!). About a year ago I went on a very different trip to Wembley...this one will be a bit more somber.

Should be a great trip regardless. Should have another Fulham fan for life when we get done.

The clapper pic attached has hung on her door since I got back from Wembley last year. FulForce.JPG

On our way to the airport. Kid is super excited. I am not sure if it’s more for Harry Potter World or the Fulham match!

Couple more. I asked is she was now a Fulham supporter...it was a tepid yes. BTW we were in the hospital this morning for a burst ear drum so she was a complete warrior to go and watch the match. Funny thing is we were in the glorious sunshine under almost any circumstance it would be greatvbut for her, it was not ideal. But she toughed it out. I think in the morning she will be much more positive.

Thanks for sharing this, and salute to your trooper.

I remember HatterMom's first trip to CC. We came back from 0-2 to draw with Citeh. With about 10 minutes to go, she said, "How can you guys do this every week?"

Back in the USA. Great trip (except for the darn result). Hatter, I think my daughter was thinking the same thing.

In addition to Harry Potter World, a guy I became good friends with when I lived in Henley was mayor for the last year and Monday was his last day. So Maggie and I attended the handing over of the mayorship to the new mayor. Very interesting to sit in on the Town Council meeting, watch the voting and proceedings, then the exchanging of the robe and other regalia to the new mayor. Pic is with the outgoing mayor in his chambers and the other is Maggie sitting in the mayor's chair with her Fulham kit on (a few hours after the match) and a scarf from the infamous Dempsey's chip match vs Juventus that I was incredibly lucky to attend (could not find plain Fulham scarf). Must have been a good trip as I am absolutely exhausted!

One last pic of Maggie under the Golden Lion pub sign. We dipped in for a swift pint of Guinness (well for me anyway) for old times sake. Back Garden was packed as the weather was perfect.

Thank you so much for this. Match aside, it looks like a wonderful trip -- and what a joy to do it with your daughter.

Good stuff sir. Win or lose, it’s always a fascinating place. The little slice of local ceremonial office changing is priceless.
