No real surprise in the sacking.

saw this on the twitter feeds when I couldn't sleep last night. not real surprised, but a little gutted about it. Was really hoping Joka would get it going in the right direction. Sunday was a better performance than anything we had seen recently and thought was providing hope. But with international break, perhaps timing was right for it.

I thought they might give him the Southampton match, but it sounds like it had been in the works for a bit. International breaks are the best excuses for timing, aren’t they? I’m OK with Claudio, just hope he has a few more tricks up his sleeve. He can certainly empathize with SJ. His track record is pretty mixed. How much does the Leicester miracle count against most of the rest of his record? I guess we’ll see. A bittersweet day.

Timing is as good as it gets for the club. Ranieri's 4-4-2 system can hopefully channel the spirit of Hodgson's squads and demonstrate a defensive spine. As of now, pleasantly surprised at the selection. SJ's replacement was going to be a re-tread and Fulham haven't done too shabby with Ranieri...at least it's not Redknapp or Allardyce. COYW!

The only thing surprising about this is that the club told everyone just 36 hours ago that Joka was safe. I am happy that the new hire was made so quickly. The idea of having a caretaker manager hanging around for half a season again would not be appealing.

There seems to be enough first teamers not on international duty for Ranieri to start implementing his plan. Though some of the most important ones - Mitro, Seri, Anguissa, Sess, Betts - will be gone.

If you are going to sack your manager, nows the time to do it. Ranieri now has 10 days to put something together. Hopefully he has some magic to provide

An enormous Thank You to Slav for the wonderful job he did and I'd put him behind only Roy (and not that far behind) as my favorite Fulham manager.

Fair or not the TV $$ for being in the top flight is so omnipresent that you can’t go on a long stretch of horrid play without repercussions. Slav got away with slow starts in the Championship because it’s a league where it’s possible to rip off a bunch of wins in a row. The Prem is a different animal, owners always have the panic button within reach with that much money on the line.

@timmyg If memory serves I think it was you that once posted a study on the effects of firing a manager and it's immediate dividends before a flattening out of results, would be interesting to revisit.

Not sure if it was the same study but I read a couple years ago that teams in the relegation zone in November that sack their manager have stayed up 50% more often than those that do not.

This was posted by Billy Pendrill over on FB, but it I thought it was the perfect sentiment for Jokanovic. Well said Mr. Sessegnon

As for Ranieri, I don't think we could have done much better and we certainly could have done a lot worse. I don't know if he'll be able to turn things around but it is a much better attempt than the whole Muelensteen/Magath episode.

Class by Sess, and Ranieri is a good call ... but I thought Joka would turn the club around. This time last season we were in the bottom 6 of the Championship, and he turned us around. Having said that, we don't know what was going on in the boardroom or on the training pitches.
