I've seen him play against Sac Republic, and he is still very impressive -- looked like a man among boys, just can't go 90 on a regular basis at his age.

Wasn't able to go, watched on ESPN 2. Remarkable achievement for this city and club. Owe a lot of it to James O'Connor, but there's enough praise to go around for ownership, the founder and the charter supporters group, The Coopers. Luke Spencer, the goalscorer, was hurt a big chunk of the season, and was one of three co-managers between O'Connor and John Hackworth, along with Captain Paolo Del Piccolo and Midfielder George Davis IV. It's hard to repeat in any sport at any level. It certainly didn't look like it was going to happen immediately after James left. They went 4-2-1 with the 3 players in charge, although they started conceding more goals than normal. Then John Hackworth lost or drew four straight (gasp) through the end of August to the first weeks of September. The natives were getting restless. They perceived a drop in the quality of play. But things clicked after a 2-2 draw at Pittsburgh on September 15th. Finished the regular season with six straight wins, then won four more to win the trophy again. It's fun to watch, and they're a pleasure to be around. One of their defenders, Paco Craig, is a musician whose dad played drums for Culture Club. We always talk music when we run into each other. Somebody pinch me. Good times. Hope they last for a long time.
