...supporting Fulham in the Premier League back in 2003, 2004, 2005, etc.

I was trying to explain this to an old colleague the other day and maybe I'm showing my age and my length of support, biproxy but 'back in the day' I'd have to wake up at 7am on a Saturday morning, head to Nevada Smiths in Manhattan to catch whatever random match they had on just to grab a glimpse of the FFC highlights. My point being that it must be tough to be in the USA and not have Fulham on TV, especially given that our final year in the Prem the NBC deal was in its first full year.

Just thought I'd mention the comparison as it came up today in conversation and don't get me wrong, we don't have it much better in England. Fulham are on TV as much as they are in the USA - but hopefully we are on the right track to be back in the big time.

It's worse, Mike. Back then we had GJ and pirate video links. But yeah, being able to watch two or three Fulham matches a season live ... sigh.

I second Hatter's comments about GJ. The past two seasons were great for supporters when Fulham provided highlights, match replays, and live audio from GJ. Sadly with the advent of FulhamTV we're mostly in the dark now. Gentleman Jim is the primary reason I've stuck with Fulham through the past three seasons. He's been the only consistent thread - owners, managers, players, and even the league we're in have changed, but Jim has always been there to complain about the bright green shirt, shorts, and socks of the opposing goalies. Not having him in my ear on a Saturday morning makes me sad. I realize the club needs to make money, but charging for game-day audio seems ridiculous. I've happily paid for licensed apparel and I'm thrilled to have tickets in hand for the Wolverhampton match, but I've not been able to bring myself to pay for FulhamTV despite my love of GJ.

It's a difficult one to get over I guess when Jim was free for so many years. And you're right @MicahMan, he is the thread of consistency for a lot of, if not all, international fans!

FFC had to start charging for highlights so did make sense to package it up with commentary in order to increase likelihood of signups.

For me it's like following a team pre-internet -- find out how the game turned out after it's over. I wasn't getting up at 7am to listen to the radio when GJ was free, let alone paying for it. I'm encouraged by the team's improvement this year because it holds out hope that I'll be able to watch them again sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Painting the house ... you know you'll appreciate your efforts when the job is done but it's still a lot of work.

Ha, I never supported FFC pre-internet but completely get your point.

I do remember in my early days of support trying to ignore the score on weekday games so I could go home to watch it 'live'. This was a lot easier to do back then which was pretty social media but on occasion I'd come across the score ahead of time which was the worst

I understand that the club had to start charging for the highlights and such, due to the marketing deals. I sent an email to the club asking if these marketing rights really covered overseas viewers/listeners and also asked if maybe the cost of a membership from someone overseas would cover it. Never got a reply!

It's not the same without you and Tommie Guthrie!

Funny you should mention Tommy. We get together often for a pint and/or the occasional Fulham match. I'll tell him his efforts were appreciated!

I'll see what I can do to get you a reply though. In fairness, from my understanding we pay a league licence to distribute highlights bit absorbed that the first two years.

No worries on the response, they still do come through at the important points. headed to Newcastle this weekend, and just got an email this morning about picking up my ticket at St. James, so it's all good.

Tommy was always class, hope he's put on some weight though! You could lose the man in a slight breeze.

'is like'; the sun coming out after weeks of overcast skies (I didn't always live in LA ). I should amend that by saying this season only. The negatives far outweight the positives of playing in this division, but you have to admit winning twice the number of matches than losing does not suck!!

Nope, Tommy is still very much as skinny as a rail. Not much there has changed!

@MicahMan @dcheather Do either of you have the dreamhost login? I wanted to check hosting deadline and might as well renew the domain name for another 10 years!

@americanmike, there is no universal login for the site on DreamHost. DreamHost has gone through some "upgrades" (although that can be debated). Right now I log in with a personal account. I tried to create a separate account for @MicahMan, which worked for awhile until we got to setting up a billing reminder through the system and ever since he's been shut out. One of the other things that we were plan on addressing after the season was not just whether to continue the site; but if we did, we would most likely switch hosts. There have been several issues going on throughout the years--which is why your email may no longer be in existence. After a few years of being on a shared plan, and not having enough resources, the site would be offline for extended periods of time--so I switched to have its own virtual server. That switch I believe created a new mail server and wiped out the old addresses that were previously there?* Currently there are no email addresses listed for the site. I have been using a gmail account to handle site's email needs since DreamHosts mail servers were pretty spotty in sending emails in the past.

*Although I may have deleted them while doing house cleaning on the back end many years ago in trying to figure why the mail server wasn't working properly? Don't remember now as it's been a few years.

Thanks @dcheather thorough as always! That all makes sense and i agree with you on Dreamhost, hey can be spotty in their service and their customer service!

Do you think there is a way of setting up my mike@fulhamusa.com account as a simple forward to my Gmail? I think i have a few FUSA related third party accounts set up under this and probably need to get access to them again.
