My best feeling all weekend was hearing HatterMom express my old bromide: there is no game more important than game four. The difference between 3-1 and 2-2 is huge.

Once again, I enjoyed the game immensely. The Cubs are struggling primarily because their offense features too many aggressive hitters. The Cleveland pitching staff eats them like M&Ms. Not all over, by any means, but it seems more than very unlikely that the Indians will lose three in a row -- the last two in Cleveland.

Great game last night. Chapman absolutely dialed it up for the last out of the game.

102 mph on the corner? Good luck with that. That was a late 70's early 80's old school save ala Bruce Sutter or Goose Gossage, 2 2/3 innings? A lot of teams would use 3 relievers for that. Cleveland has been clearly the better team despite only leading 3 games to 2.

Even though I am quite neutral, I found myself rooting for the Indians when Aroldis failed to cover first base on a ball hit to the right side of the infield. The Tribe came very close to making him pay for that mistake. The more they see of him, the more likely they'll figure out a way to break through against him. Of course the same is true for the Cubs and Cleveland's bullpen stars Miller and Allen. My favorite part about this phase of a seven game series is the likelihood of an unlikely hero. Coco Crisp or Jason Heyward, anyone?

These last two post-seasons have completely renewed my interest in MLB. First KC's run to glory last season based on station-to-station baseball, base running, and team ethic, and now two teams built on pitching and defense.

The constant flood of solo home runs and strikeouts, the inability of some clubs to develop team defense, the parade of one-dimensional pitching and hitting just about defeated my lifelong addiction, but I do believe I'm back, baby.

Young people reading this, enjoy every remaining inning of this World Series. It is a classic, regardless of who wins.

World Series, game 7, 6-6, going to the 10th in a rollercoaster game. If you can't get into this game there will never be a baseball game for you.

Might go a step further Barry...cue the hyperbole; Sports simply don't get any better (equaled perhaps) than that. Wow...World Champion Chicago Cubs...

Cue the "Most Interesting Man in the World Voice":
I don't watch baseball often, but when I do, the Cubs win the World Series.

That was a pretty special game. Joe is right, that was great for anyone who appreciates competition in sports. I couldn't believe the emotional swings in that game. I may make that the last baseball game I ever watch because it can't get much better. I'm thrilled for all of the long suffering Cubs fans. It also gives me hope for my under-performing squads! Wonder if I can get Theo Epstein interested in football?

Congrats to the Cubs and their fans. Cardinal pitchers and catchers typically report to Jupiter between February 18th and 26th, but that could be earlier next year due to the World Baseball Classic.

So happy the Cubs won and their fans can revel in a championship title after 108 years of waiting. Agree with others that was a classic and treat to watch last night...even though I am a little sleep deprived now.

Glad the Red Sox got rid of those bums Theo and Francona. It's not like they've done anything of note since leaving.

Oh, please get rid of Chief Wahoo, it's nothing to be proud of.

Well, that was indeed a classic, but I have to tell you, if I had my way, I'd have gotten someone to nail Joe Madden's trousers to the bench. I swear he just can't resist giving Joe Buck an opportunity to mention his name. You got a guy who has pitched 4 2/3 innings, given up one run and two hits, gives up a walk ONLY because the ump missed an obvious strike three the previous pitch AND has used only 60 pitches ON THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON, and you yank him so he can't get the W. Even if two runs hadn't scored subsequently in that inning, it was a totally unnecessary move -- not to mention classless.

Then he does the same thing later on, and parlays THAT move into the loss of a three-run lead.

Now I know he's going to get lots of props for getting productive at bats out of his second and third-string catchers, but -- face it -- if the Cubs had lost that game it would have been totally down to his failure to let his two starters finish innings.

Madden has the best starting rotation in the majors, some exciting young hitters and a strong team spirit. It would have been nice if he had some faith in those players.

Okay, rant over. Aside from that, Mrs Lincoln reports that she thoroughly enjoyed the play ... on display throughout the WS. The Major League season is over and ... this morning ... the Texas League released its 2017 schedule. Tickets go on sale in the spring.

Congrats to the Cubbies (and Indians). Giants broadcaster and former Cub, Mike Krukow, pretty much mirrored HD's comments re Maddon on the radio today; in sum, 'he made moves that tried to LOSE that game.' I only had a chance to watch from the 8th on but it was a great 3 innings to see. Beisbol.

It was funny. A friend and I were talking the night before and saying the Cubs will get an early lead, then Madden will bring in the overworked Chapman to blow it. Typical Cubs. As the 8th unfolded I still couldn't believe it was happening. When the rain delay hit I was just glad those weren't my teams. Talk about dragging out the agony.

So while I'm concerned for the natural order of the universe, I'm happy for any FUSA Cubs fans, Steve Bartman and the denizens of Hell, who got a respite from the heat.
