So, these four amazing young musicians are friends. The guy with the mandolin is the son of the guy I gig with as Sellers and Hymel. The tall blonde beauty I've known since she was 12. The other two musicians are brilliant also.

This is an original by the singer. Sweet Shine and Honey could probably best be described as Progressive Bluegrass. Enjoy.

In case this was the last time we see him on the court. From staying in college longer to the unstoppable bank shot to his unassuming nature to retaining his privacy in spite of being one of the greatest players of all time, Tim Duncan did it his way:

I can list myriad things I enjoy about that jam - stand up bass, mandolin picking, the vocals and a fiddle - but the band name: Sweet Shine and Honey, truly kicks ass.

That 'Sweet Shine..' was good. I take it that was an on-air performance. too bad about the bass string but stuff happens.

Every season I rave about the talent on the Voice. This year I am blown away. The 12 finalists each would have made final four most seasons.
Picked Alisan to be finalist first time I heard her sing, THEN I watched Laith Al-Saadi. He's an amazing and does my favorite genres.
Alisan should win easily.. it IS called 'The Voice'.. but I cant help but root for the musicians: Adam and Laith. Who else, if you've watched the show much, would have coaches suggest they accompany themselves.

good capture of three different iterations of the man -- Nashville Skyline, I want to be Woody Guthrie, and my favorite Bobby of them all -- it's alright, Ma.

My Brother-In Law on the 4th mentioned it was the 25th Anniversary of the movie he took his wife to on their first date; Terminator 2 (lol, nothing says romance like Arnold as a killing machine turned good). Guns N' Roses provided a great rock song and 25 years later GnR are back together touring (bummed they are playing Dodger Stadium, which is too big a nightmare to even consider going to)

Enjoy the G'n'R, all!!! Simply, awesome.
One of our favorite tunes and we are blessed to have the only 6yr old around that can sing the hook to "Paradise City," or just an example of poor parenting by some views....however, good music is never a bad thing for kids to experience, whatever the genre.

When my 16-year-old was around 7 he came back from a friend's house. He was telling us how they had fun playing Guitar Hero. He said "Have you ever heard of the song 'Welcome to the Jungle'? That was my favorite." I replied, "We're going to put some new songs on your MP3 player today." I pulled an old CD off the shelf and said "This is 'Appetite for Destruction'. You're going to like it." Now he's more of a fan of punk rock/ska, but he still enjoys the "classics".

Have a great time w/your son Micah! Nev, love that story about your boy singing the chorus (great parenting I say!!) and listening to all types of music. Reminded me of when our daughter was a toddler, her grandparents would provide daycare and on the drive home we'd sing songs together. I feigned surprise/ignorance at the supermarket once as my better half gave me 'the look' as our little one sang the chorus of 'Dirty Deeds' by ACDC ('Dwirdy Deeds Dwone Dwird Cheep') in an aisle (pretty sure that was bad parenting ). Anyway Bon Scott would've been 70 today:

@SoCalJoe I think that was great parenting! Once when driving my kids and their friends somewhere I mentioned something about making sure everyone was buckled up. One kid started singing "Stickshifts and Safetybelts" by Cake then everyone joined in. I knew I liked the families of those kids as we all sang a very good a cappella rendition from start to finish.

We used to catch Cake shows in Sacto/Davis in the early 90s. They are a great live show. Sticks and-safety belts story is brilliant. And my little ones sing dirty deeds as well so great parenting all around!!!!!

On Saturday Fulham plays Real Betis in the Andalusia region of Spain. I'll use that as excuse to post my favorite song that mentions Andalusia - "Debaser" by the Pixies. Yes, technically he is referencing the film "Un Chien Andalou", but he says "Andalusia". Okay, truth be told, this is my all time favorite song and I'm looking for any excuse to play it no matter how tenuous.
