Cespedes is a left fielder by trade (5 star arm, 2 star glove) so it's not totally surprising he (playing center field) butchered the ball that ended up being an inside the park homer.

Ever since the top of the 8th inning in Houston when they were losing by 4 and were 6 outs from elimination, the Royals have re-captured last year's feeling and look like they won't be denied.

Hats off to KC pitcher Edinson Voloquez. His father passed away in the Dominican Republic yesterday and at first it was reported he didn't know until after he pitched, but since it's been changed that he did know an hour or two before the game. What a gutsy performance. Ironically Chris Young who is scheduled to start Game 4 but had to come in and pitch in relief and was the eventual winner, lost his Dad 1 month ago to cancer.

Great game with a great finish (apparently) that I, too, was unable to stay up for. And therein lies the rub. I understand why they now have to play post season games at night (money), but why does the loss of the TV broadcast necessitate a delay? Contingencies, people. Backup plans. Backups for the backups. Agree AHEAD OF TIME that the potential loss of the video signal to the replay official in New York triggers an automatic rule that the decision of the umpires on the field is final and binding in the interim. END OF DISCUSSION. And I bet that would NEVER happen at a Super Bowl. Too much ad money at stake. But the Series ain't chopped liver in the ad department, either. I'm wagering someone, maybe several someones, lost their jobs last night.

Just when I thought the Royals had lost their magic from last year...

Congratulations to the Royals and their fans. Cardinal pitchers, catchers and Yadi report to Jupiter on February 20th. #12 in '16!

That Royals club is a sweet baseball machine (just don't throw Bumgarner against them). Sometimes errors, physical or mental, don't cost a club, but the Royals saw to it that the Mets paid dearly for all of their mistakes over the last two games. A somehow locked down 2-2, even series rapidly morphed into a 4-1 defeat for Mr. Met.

I still owe a certain Cardinals supporter $1.

I'm only sorry that we don't get two more games between these two teams. As a life-long baseball fan -- the first WS I watched on TV was the 1954 matchup between the NY Giants and the Cleveland Indians -- I can say that this was amazingly dramatic series I've seen in a very long time.

There have been dominating champions before, but it's been a long time that a team won it all by a combination of masterful baseball basics and fearless hair-on-fire self-belief. Wow.

Those Royals were really resilient. I doubt anyone matches the late inning scoring numbers they put up any time soon.
