Congrats to the kids for overcoming a slow start in U20 qualifying and punching their ticket to this summer's World Cup. Emerson Hyndman assisted on the first goal of their 2-0 win over El Salvador. He picked up a knock later and had to be subbed. The match report said that Emerson was the catalyst for the squad throughout the tournament.
I saw on Facebook this morning that he damaged his shoulder in the last match and may be out for a while. This is TERRIBLE timing. If Parker is out for any length of time, Hyndman would be the best alternative, I would have thought.
Here are some highlights. I hope he's OK. Glad they've advanced. We need to play in these competitions, obviously, if we're ever gonna get past the first or second round of the knockout stage in the big show. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2015/01/25/09/19/150124-u20mnt-slv-highlights
I watched most of the tournament. He was one of the better players for the US along with Zack Steffen (GK) and Cameron Carter-Vickers (17-year-old CB who is built like a brick house).
Man that field looked like some of the pastures I used to play on as a kid. The boys looked incredibly excited after the second goal, good for them and US soccer. Hope Emerson's injury isn't too bad. I know I'm biased as a US supporter, but I think Hyndman has deserved to play more for us this season. I know he still has some developing to do physically, but his passing has torn teams apart at times.
