On SiriusXM they just said it does not count friendlies only meaningful games They then said Uruguay had already said they will appeal but Liverpool can not appeal.

It is a long article and a little awkwardly written, but worth a read if you want to try to understand Louis Suarez. It doesn't explain away the biting, a lot of athletes have been poor and with difficult childhoods, but it did help me understand at least a bit why the Uruguayans still defend him. Heck, not only will Uruguay appeal but I saw today that they are blaming it on the British press, saying the bite mark pictures were photo shopped.

All of Suarez's bites have been in the heat of the moment, in frustration. I'm not sure you can know why he bit Cheillini. Plus, judging from Suarez's reaction, I think he knew darn well he might get red carded. Why was he holding his teeth, why did he dive after he bit Chiellini? Because he was hoping he could fool people into thinking Chiellini's shoulder went into his face rather than him chomping down on it. Suarez has gotten away with "cheating" his entire life; he's not sure he is going to get red carded. As a result, he's never learned to control himself. Same with Brian Mullan. In the states we cheat by pushing the limits of fouling, tackling. Mullan was probably rewarded for being a hard nosed player all of his career so he never had to learn to control his temper. Have you ever watched the video of Mullan breaking Zakuani's leg? Because for me that is the most gross violent act I have ever seen in soccer. It was just as calculating, and had nothing to do with soccer. Mullan lost his mind for a moment and I would guess the same is true of Suarez when he bit Chiellini. Mullan was rightly banned for 10 games because of the "tackle". For me it is as simple as this, ask Steve Zukuani and Stuart Holden if they would have rather suffered a bite.

Thanks for posting the article Mo, it was an interesting read and I wished the author delved deeper into the issues involving Uruguayan football, but since the piece was done before the WC it's understandable. From the sounds of it, the situation in Uruguay mirrors in some ways Columbia back in the '2 Escobar' days in the early 1990's w/drug traffickers running it. The response to Saurez biting from the captain, to the President of the Uruguayan federation, to reports in the media from that country that it is a conspiracy to get Uruguay replete w/photo shopping has been reprehensible. However, given the fact that if you criticize you might get shot, it makes it a little more understandable.

What would make me feel an ounce of sympathy for him? How about admitting an there is an issue? That you don't know why you snap, instead of never admitting anything the 'things happen on a pitch, look at my eye' BS makes me :angry-cussingblack: at the TV. Perhaps the only thing that will get him to stop is the next time it happens (and something will since he apparently doesn't think there is a problem) is the 'victim' snaps himself and beats the crap out of that little pipsqueak.

People shoot people to death in the "heat of the moment." They still go to the penitentiary. For a really long time.
In doing a bit of reading on this, I came across this one pertaining to Mr. Rio Ferdinand. Tell me how this fits with what we know about Suarez's "punishment" so far.

He should be banned for a year. And the next time some burly defender gets physical with him in the box, he'll think about biting him, again. And eventually, he will act on it. Again.

    What then?
