Down 1-0 goal was by former Chelski player Claudio Pizarro in the 14th...but since the goal we've looked better according to Gentleman Jim.

YES. A little confidence boost for the lads going into next weekend. The mood at training this week should be good, and maybe we can get 1 transfer done before then.

Wow, down to Werder Bremen at the half and then come back to win 5-1. That was some half time talk. I will take this as a very good sign in terms of the new manager! Hats off to Sparky and Gera! And even though it sounds like most were still unimpressed, congrats to our beleaguered Eddie Johnson for the fifth goal.

That a great result even if it is a friendly. I'm kind of excited for EJ, I hope he can come off the bench a few games and be that spark I thought he would have been when they signed him

It looks like the opener against Bolton will be on at 2:30 ET on Fox soccer channel. I got an all day softball tourney that day so hopefully H have a few hour break to catch the game.

I'd be surprised if we kept EJ, I can see us bringing in 1 more striker and EJ goes on yet another loan spell. He's just not good enough. but like Steve, i'd love to be proven wrong.

About EJ: We don't have anybody playing up front with blinding pace except for him. I can see Marky Mark keeping him for the last 15 minutes of matches -- especially away from home. It doesn't make sense to farm him out when we've essentially been putting midfielders next to Zamora [Gera, Dempsey] since AJ went down. Okaka is back in Italy, Elm is as fast as a forest full of his namesakes, and Erik the Viking has gone away. Keep EJ. He's a free transfer.

About the game: It didn't occur to me that GJ would be broadcasting. I went onto the offal to see if I could find some lineups and heard GJ give the summary. I then watched Sky Sports News in hopes of seeing the goals. They had two segments from Craven Cottage:

    1. Sir Alex walking on the ground [it must have been refreshing for him to visit the Cottage without having his boys being slapped around by The Mighty Whites] AND
    2. A friggin' fox scampering around the seats.

I'm still waiting to see the goals. There's no action highlights from any of our pre-season matches on the Offal. Sigh.

The problem is with EJ is what we have mentioned here in the past -- his head needs to be screwed on right, in terms of belief in his own ability. I think he's even said so. If he can get this right, then I can bear seeing him in a white shirt. If not, he just isn't good enough.

If Les thinks that he is good on this score, great, if there is any doubt, then all we are doing keeping him is giving someone a paycheck who can't get the job done.

I have to disagree with the last 15 min. theory. Remember last year at W Ham? In extra time? You had your chance EJ.

I really am out of patience w/ EJ in a Fulham shirt, yet he just earned one more last chance, apparently. I don't care how much pace he has -- he has to put the ball in the net, not win a 100 meter sprint. Don't quit looking for that striker MH, at least not today.

I understand and agree with all your points, Steve, although I doubt if EJ had a total of 90 minutes on the pitch in Premiership matches over the last two seasons. That makes it kind of hard to say that he had his chance. I think it was clear that Roy had no use for him, but I think that Ray Lew likes him and, since I doubt that Marky Mark has seen him at all except for that Carling Cup match last season, there should be a fresh start.

Early this pre-season, Eddie was quoted as saying that he feels ready to play for any coach who believes in him. I think its pretty sure that if Roy had stayed Eddie would have gone.

Finally, as I've pointed out here and elsewhere, last summer the two players who were most pilloried and most identified as players who had to be replaced if Fulham were to have a good season were named Bobby Zamora and Zoltan Gera.

    Just sayin'

Thanks for highlights Lax! Gera's goals were saweet! I believe Demps had the assist on Zamora's goal and it was quite nice. I thought EJ's goal showed some nice composure too. Gets me reved up for the season opener this weekend.

Good catch Mo. Eddie's composure has led to him bottling the few chances he's had, but he looked clinical and calm with that finish. Hopefully he's turned a page, b/c that speed would be a nice asset.

Zollie's 1st goal was a screamer. Nice to see the offense flow from the boys in white. Can't wait for the opener.
