    Hello!

Like several others I've already read, I decided to make the leap this year from being a World Cup obsessive to following an EPL team. After substantial research and investigation of all of the sides, I absolutely fell in love with Fulham, and I can't wait until first kick!

I'm happy to find a community of USA-based supporters, as well.

Welcome Andrew! A wise choice you made. We're just a smidge worse for wear, with Roy Hodgson leaving, but we'll be just fine this year (I hope!)

    Where are you from?

welcome andrew. I applaud your wise choice. I started following Fulham immediately after the 2006 world cup and they did not dissappoint. Hope the next four years are the same for you. COYW

I'm actually living in NE Ohio like each of you, but I'm down at the end of I-480 in Ravenna. I'm from Indiana originally though, moved up here a few years back to work on a PhD at Kent State.

welcome to the site. have you always been a soccer fan and just decided to get in to the Premier League after watching the Cup, or are you a convert to the sport as well? Any other favorite teams of other sports?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Well, sort of been a soccer fan. I've watched every World Cup since 1994, but let it be a once-every-four-years kind of deal, much like I do with Olympic sports. In 2006 I even watched La Copa Mundial on Univision because I didn't have cable then.

I gave the MLS a couple shots early on but it was never on TV, so I never bonded with it. This was back when all the teams played in empty gigantic (gridiron) football stadiums. It just seemed so... forced at the time, on the part of MLS.

This year's World Cup got me really hooked. I found myself in a bar a couple weeks after the Cup was over with friends, ignoring them so I could obsessively watch an MLS match between San Jose and LA, two teams I couldn't care less about in a league I had never bonded with. Watching soccer this time around reminded me why I loved sports. I'd gotten so annoyed with baseball, basketball and (gridiron) football... the constant starting and stopping, games that'd take four hours plus, and in the case of football, players that were more cartoon characters than people. And, has anyone been to an NBA or NFL game lately? It's a truly obnoxious experience!

And while I respect the MLS and what they've accomplished in the past 10 years especially, I wanted to watch the best competition, so I found myself looking for an EPL team.

I still follow the Colts in the NFL and the Reds in MLB (my home teams, being from Indiana originally) but I can barely stand to watch the games anymore unless they're DVRed and can skip all the stoppages, but then I have to avoid the internet and phone to avoid the results, nearly impossible.

You know, I never have that problem with soccer. :)
