    RE: Roy

All I can say is, Thank You Roy for the 3 best "footy years" of my life. I hope Liverpool supporters appreciate what they have.

Now that I got the mushy crap out of the way, allow me to add that I hope Liverpool finishes 17th in the table.

    Good luck Roy, indeed.

However, he left with his job here about 1/3 done. Next summer, Liverpool will kick him to the curb because they haven't won the Premier League. I won't cry.

As for us, those of us with any lingering illusions that we are anything more than a CCC-level club battling above its weight class have just been hit in the face with a wet fish. The club announces that we'll have a manager in place by July 12. By that time, many of our first team players may well have handed in their transfer requests. I'll be very surprised if Hangeland doesn't follow Roy north. Depending on who we eventually sign, I'll be very surprised if we don't lose Murphy, Zamora, and Konchesky. This would also be the opportune time for Dempsey to make a big money move -- better to have potential suitors have a Europa League Final and a brilliant series of displays in the World Cup in their mind than a dour 9-month scramble to avoid relegation.

No, it's not like we can't survive without Roy. It's that when one of the canniest brains in football moves to a club in absolute shambles, it says a HUGE amount about the club he left behind.

I tend to stay positive until I'm given a clear reason to think negative.

I'm gutted. I think in the next few days we'll see Clint and Hangeland leave, at least. Like rats leaving a sinking ship.

I dont know about all that doom and gloom, Don.

Throughout Roy's career, he's proven he is more of a business consultant than a football manager a la Clough or Fergie.

He turned around Fulham. Now, he's going to try and save Liverpool. I don't see anything personal or surreptitious involved.

The only thing that angers me is how ungrateful Liverpool fans are. If I didn't hate them already, now I'm beyond the pale.

Reality sucks sometimes, and I think you got it exactly right, Don. I don't think Woy will last very long among the sharks up north. As for Fulham, I've always loved supporting the underdog, and I always will 'til the day I die. COYW

I will say this though. Whilst I wish Roy luck, every point that we take of Liverpool next season (if indeed we do) will feel like ten.

Kept hoping he might hold out for the England job, but there was just too many sources.

Remember Roy's longest stay at any one job was 5 seasons at Malmo (and his last year there was 1990). He is 62 years old and knows he's near the end. Roy goes to a place, implements his philosophy (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't) AND LEAVES. This is not a reflection on Fulham as much as Roy living up to his M.O. Even if he gets sacked after a year Roy won't regret taking the job.

Will it work out for him at Liverpool? Doubtful, the supporters are delusional. However, you can't begrudge them it is a special club (and probably the primary reason Roy couldn't say no). In shambles at the moment, but Roy has never shied away from a difficult situation.

When I first heard about the prospect of Roy leaving I was devastated. However, we're not the same club Roy inherited. He's brought stability to the side, improved it greatly and gave us some great memories over the last 2 years. For that I'll always be thankful.

However, despite many claims, Roy never walked atop the Thames. There are plenty of managers capable of leading Fulham forward from here and the margin for error is far greater than it was when Roy arrived. I sincerely doubt this puts us into the relegation mix. It probably ensures we don't crack the top 10 again soon, but that really depends on who management is able to bring in.

So the onus falls to them. They need to make a good hire and prevent an exodus of players or at the least, bring in good replacements for those who leave. We're pretty long in the tooth as a club, so some departures really won't hurt. Further, I don't think you'll see Roy raid the club. It wouldn't fit the character he showed while at our helm.

As for Liverpool. F 'em, their supporters and that jackass Hicks. But I pretty much felt that way about that lot before all of this happened, so status quo.

The sun will rise tomorrow, and it will rise again on the day after the summer transfer window ends. Even if Dempsey and Hangeland leave, we've still got some pretty good players. If we lose the Hangman, I think Senderos will partner Hughes nicely; if Dempsey goes for greener pastures, Duff and Gera and Davies and even Riise are all useful players.

    Disappointed, obviously; panicking, no.

Thank you, Mr. Hodgson, it's been a hell of a ride.

I'll reserve my rights to bitch and moan about the direction of the club after we see how this whole thing shakes out in the next week or two.

A huge dissapointment. With him at the helm, I was convinced that we could field 11 one legged monkeys and still escape relagation.

I can't blame the guy though. He arguably took Fulham about as far as they could go without Fayed splashing stupid cash around. On to the next challenge and I am sure, a bit more cash. It will be very interesting to see how it works out for him in Liverpool. Much greater expectations with much larger footballing egos running around. I think the Fulham squad was perfect for him. Hungry guys who are overachievers who respect the Manager.

I can't say that I hope he has a stellar year(s) at Liverpool given they are in the Premiership. But I can say thanks for the incredible ride over the last two years and you will be sorley missed. You and the team have brought me some incredible sporting memories that I can look back upon, raise up my glass, smile and get goose pimples all over. Cheers Roy!

Like everyone I'm sorry to see Roy leave and especially to Liverpool.

Reading LFC fans reactions isnt great some do and most don't want Roy sighting that he hasn't done much to prove hes worth being manager at LFC, only time will tell but Scouse fans don't give much time and I predict that since LFC wont do much in Roy's first couple of years the fans will turn against him and oust him out, shame really because Roy has worked miracles at FFC and I wish him well.

I don't believe there will be a mass exit of FFC players since most are under contract with the club not Roy but again only time will tell.

Danny Murphy's name as been mentioned as replacement but that in my opinion would be a brave appointment by the club, but like LFC fans we don't have any say just an opinion.

GOOD LUCK Roy I hope you survive.

A tough, sad day to be sure. These last couple seasons have been more than memorable. Can't say I blame 'Pool for wanting him, nor Roy for taking the opportunity. It's a tough task ahead, but I wish him the best. (That said, will be very happy to take 6 points off him this season).

As has been mentioned elsewhere, BBC is reporting his depature includes a clause that he can't take any players with him, so if Hangman, Demps, etc are to depart, it won't be to Anfield. Just hoping we have a someone in place fast to calm things and hopefully prevent players leaving in panic.

A tough year ahead, perhaps, but reamining faithful.

Thank you Roy, you will forever be a Fulham legend. Thank you for keeping us in the Prem, for a Euro Final, for raising the esteem of the club, and most of all for your pure class. This day was inevitable, and Roy goes to turnaround the fortunes of another club.

Clint please stay. Losing him would hurt more.

We need to take all 6 against Blackpool.
