    Yay for Mark Hughes.

    Boo for possibly David James.

I like it. And if it's true that it was an increased transfer budget that helped clinch the deal, then I like it even more.

Good news, but I'm not crazy that he is bringing in his own coaching team. What will happen to Ray and the other coaches? Fingers crossed that he will build on what's there already, but his own, I assume unemployed, coaching team is not a good start in my eyes. Prove me wrong Sparky.

Mo, someone posted it earlier last week, but it sounds like Ray is headed to Liverpool after he is done here.

yeah, i heard this too (but also that his job is safe at fulham), yet i speculate the plan was always to head off and join roy once a permanent replacement was found - a servant to the club 'til the end nevertheless and i wish him the best. who knows, maybe hughes keeps him around to "bridge the gap" in the interim.

here we go, it's time to start a new chapter for fulham and as mr. money once said "whatever will be, will be."

So, Lew has a place to go.. does Managing Dir Mackintosh?

Hughes is like Kryptonite to him. You get the manager, you get his baggage as well. One more reason Bradley would have been a good choice.. and the rumor of Klinnsman is just laughable.

Well votes have consequences and MAF has the only vote that counts.
    Good thing:
    He still learns, FFC prospers

    This x 10.

*Possible "Yay" if players like Bellamy, Santa Cruz. or Ireland are brought in...

I cant stand Ireland, Santa Cruz is sooooooo overrated. Bellamy is the only one I'd take and that might even be a risk because he comes with some attitude.

I like this hire (if it actually happens!). Hopefully he comes in with a (good) chip on his shoulder post the Man City debacle.

    David James...no gracias!

no to Calamity, Santa Crutch, Liareland, and definitely no to The Nutter with the Putter". He would probably go after our Riise with a cricket stick. If we are going to raid City, let's get someone useful like Bridge, Onuoha, or Hart.

I agree with omsdogg. I definitely don't want James, Bellamy, or Ireland.

I'm skeptical about this one. But I will deal this choice and see what happens and who he picks up.

i understand the risk with some of these Man City guys, but getting someone like Bellamy or Ireland would be a SERIOUS upgrade in talent, which we need. maybe it's not long term, but i think if we DON'T take risks like this, then our current talent and age wont take us much past 15th or so (or worse)

Stephen Ireland would be the shizz. I doubt we get him, but he'd be nice. Bellamy is mature enough for Fulham now as well.

I agree, and as I've said before, I think Ireland is a very nice player and the papers claim that Hughes is already on his way to obtaining Bellamy. Fulham probably can't afford either's wages though.

I believe attitude can be relative to an athlete's surroundings, so I'd be OK with these risks as I imagine Fulham has (or had) a strong lockeroom. Though, would the younger Riise avenge his brother?

Hughes' appointment last night marks an acceptable tradeoff between Fair Play points and the ignominy of losing away to WBA, Hull City, Bolton, et. al. Here's to Sparky'sblawharmy making the North less grim for we away supporters in 2010/11! Like Sir Roy, I think he will be deft in the transfer market having unearthed latent talents as Ryan Nelson and David Bentley. But, what do we know of the gaffer's tactics from his time at Ewood Park? Will he retain the "inverted wingers" idea of compressing the midfield between Duff and Davies on the wings or favour a more expansive play? We played three creative mids at once many times last season between Duff, Davies and Murphy with Gera in the hole behind Bobby. A lesser manager might have dropped one of those. As he is British, I presume 4-4-2 but what are my fellow supporters' thoughts on the potential shape of our side and approach from a zonal perspective, assuming the XI we played with mostly from February to Hamburg?
