He should have chosen the team with class. Guess who's laughing now.

Very surprising, kind of thought he was a lock (not to start, but to be a spark off the bench). He would never say it in public, but I wonder if he thinks about the fact he would be starting w/Jozy.

Wow, what a "lose - lose" situation for him and the U.S. In a different world, he's starting with Jozy at both club and country, but oh well, que sera sera.

Edit: No kidding, SCJ, I was thinking the same thing re Jozy & Rossi and didn't see your prior post.

And I defended his decision. Too bad it didn't work out for you, Joey Red. Tooooooooooooooooo bad.

Ah I love the smell of shadenfreude in the morning.

The guy grew up hoping to play for the team that his father worshipped. I fail to see how this makes him a bad person. This is also not to mention the fact that the guy is 23 years old. I doubt if this will be the last opportunity he has to play in a World Cup.

I could really give two craps about him.

But, I will say that the way he celebrated scoring against the USA -- his home -- was just disgraceful.

Remember when Zola took over at West Ham and they scored against Chelsea? Or when Cassano scored against Bari, his hometown club, this past spring? They didn't cheer, or even acknowledge what just happened.

    That's how do you it.

    ^^ Agreed.

IDK - I read the article on him and watched the video posted here several weeks ago. That made a major difference in understanding his situation and his decision to play for Italy made sense.

He moved to Italy when he was 12 - hardly an age where he would be able to ignore the Italian pull to be true to his fathers homeland.

Anyway - I would still take him - He can swap countries one time in his life.

Italy is so short in the youth - the next generation? Where is it? I thought Rossi was a major symbol of that...

He will never make the switch.

Jenser and Don, I dont remember anyone hating Rossi for his choice. I remember most on here understanding it. For me it was the goal celebration at the confed cup that stung, so now I can laugh.

I still respect the way he made his choice. He was Italy from the start and he never wavered or led the US on in case he couldnt cut it with Italy. I also respect that he, along with Ching, seem to be among the few who have handled their surprise ommisions with dignity.
