The only chance for Cleveland and Lebron to win a championship is to get rid of Mike Brown (or keep him as the defensive coach, but frankly their defense isnt looking very good these days). But even that probably wont work because I have to wonder if Brown wasnt kept around so long because he is a nice, spineless guy who will let Lebron do what he wants. Unless Cleveland gets a rock star coach that has the authority and the brains to make the Cavs and Lebron play intelligent basketball, they will never win a Championship with Lebron.

Truthfully, I hope both Brown and Lebron leave Cleveland. Brown because he hasnt a clue and Lebron because he plays ugly basketball. He is an amazing athlete but he has never had the type of coaching he needs and as a result I dont think he has ever become the type of player or teamate that he could be. His stats are great, but just watching him play, I dont think he compares as a basketball player to Jordon, Kobe, Magic, Bird, or lots of the other greats. Lebron is merely a phenom.

Did any of you read about Jabbar saying the NBA should have 21 yro minimum age limit.

I must say that I agree with with him. Unfortunately, US soccer players seem to be going the way of the NBA players. Leaving college after one or two years, or not going at all (like most of the world). I regret this; I dont think it worth giving up on the college system for the hope of becoming Brazil.

You dont get where those two owners are without knowing some tricks and yes, I know Cuban has tried it but.. Mikhail Prokhorov has more 'juice' than Cuban, I'm thinking. Probably even more than Abramovich.

If LeBron is about money, he goes. Knicks? Nets? They aren't going to win a championship anytime soon. If he is about winning, he stays. The Cavs are a lot closer to a title than anyone in the Jay-Z area.

As a Clevelander, do I have to obsess about this one? I hate this whole saga. If he stays or goes, can I just kind of notice it casually and then move on?

And I wonder what kind of skeletons are in this Prokhorov's closet.

Hadnt thought of that. Do you really think that they would go over to Europe rather than wait for slam dunkin' stardom here? I guess they might for a paycheck but I think that once they tasted the racism over in Europe they would prefer being here in the states with our home grown brand of "racism"

Who's he using as example? Lebron.. Kobe? And what really makes him think that 3 or 4 years of college instills better playmaking decisions? Might have helped Kobe but I'm not sure about Lebron.
Does he think all college coaches are John Wooden or John Thompson?

There's a good chance Lebron would have gone to Ohio State and at that time he might not have learned anything of value.

I think it's fine for him to suggest or encourage kids to do at least three years in college but where would Greg Oden, for example, be now?

• LeBron to Nets; not a snowballs' chance in Hades, It's Cleveland, NY, Chicago, or Miami. Maybe if they had broken ground on the new arena in Brooklyn then the Nets might have a shout, but since the new owner by rules can't offer James double the money he'd get anywhere else he isn't going there.

• Read the Jabbar article, and will agree w/Fog that the Wooden/Thompson types are few and far between. However, if the kids were made to stay for at least 2 years they would have to pick up something of value. Have always liked the college baseball/MLB rule. Either go pro right out of HS or go to college and not be eligible for the draft for 3 years (2 for hoops).

• Our kids going to Europe HD? That's like the MLS drafting Euro kids and them actually coming...not happening. There have been 2 cases of HS kids going over there recently, both had disasterous seasons. 1 Brandon Jennings was no worse for wear and had a great rookie season in Milwaukee. 2 was a big kid out of San Diego who ended up quitting his Euro team and now has no college eligibility and apparently no options.

• Mike Brown will be canned, first piece in getting LeBron resigned. Magic and Michael tuned out Paul Westhead and Doug Collins respectively and got them replaced with Pat Riley and Phil Jackson.

• Mo, as a Cleveand fan I know you're just upset right now really don't want LeBron to go ('ugly basketball'??).

 

Dwight Howard is another example. Monster talent but no post game. Would he have developed one at any top 50 college? Probably. I'm rather amazed he hasn't in the pros. Does Pete Newell still have a big man camp?

I'd think Lebron would be closer to a title in Chicago or Miami than Cleveland. New York would strictly be about the money. New Jersey only gets mention b/c of cap space and JayZ ties but I'd think that's an incredible longshot.
