What: UEFA Europa Cup Final 2010 - Fulham v. Atletico Madrid
Where: Nevada Smith's - Where Football Is Religion!
    When: May 12th, 2010 - 2:45pm EST (...or therabouts)
    Who's invited: YOU!

We got people shipping in from as far as Philly to watch this with us. I, for one, am taking off of work this day so I can enjoy and get drunk and sing loud and proud, regardless of the result.

Who the fuck is in? Sound off! If you're not coming don't even bother posting a no with an excuse. This is history in the making right here, this is no Intertoto - if you're not gonna be at the bar with us, then peace, bruh. Later for you.

    Who is in????

You know we'll get 10+ stragglers in to watch the game on their break or legitimately swing through. I remember for the Birmingham match during the Great Escape, we had a shitload of people come out of the woodwork. It will be a workday though.

So from here, and from hearsay through Josh and my own assumptions...die-hards who will be there are as follows:

    Joe - I'm assuming, I'll text him.
John - Told me he's rolling.
    Josh - See above.
Nick - Told Josh he was rolling.
Mike - Told Josh he was rolling.
    Geoff - I'm rolling.
    Dave - See above.

Yet to hear from Rudy Ruettiger . . the man with the moustache has been MIA for a year now, who knows. Any other surprises?

If we can get 20 strong, I'll consider it a success. Could be the biggest turnout yet.

I have to drive to Boston for a meeting first thing Thursday am, but I might try and watch the game in NYC and drive up afterwards.

I lurk here on occasion, but tend to spend more time on the UK based boards.. no reason really, just chose to not divert my attention between so many Fulham sites.

Anyways, I'm on the fence about showing up tmw. On the one hand, I've developed a little routine / ritual of watching the games solo at home, and thus far I can't argue w/ the results. Yes, I'm quite superstitious about these things (worked wonders in '04 w/ the Bosox!!! Shame about those Bills though.. hah)

On the other hand, it would be cool to meet more local Fulham fans, esp. in advance of the WC when I hope to be seeing some familiar faces around, particularly at the Brooklyn bars.

So do I either follow my routine and potentially miss the revelry with all of you, or do I rely on the sports karma I've banked (in addition to payback due for flying to Rome) and show up with a "Hello, my name is MrCheviot" name tag? Guess I'll decide tomorrow as I leave the office..

These are the decisions in life I lose sleep over. I'm sure I'm not alone, but if if you see a tall guy in a black Dempsey Airness jersey, feel free to say "hi" - it's long past time I joined the NYC Fulham supporters in person as well as in spirit.

Ah, yes, I used to be like you -- wandering around aimlessly, trying to find a friendly face -- HELL any Fulham fan! Going from bar to bar.

But then, I found the light and Brother AmericanMike and Brother ChicagoTom showed me the way . . .

My suggestion is "What good is sitting/Alone in your room. . . "

The people I've met through FUSA have been FANTASTIC. Many I consider friends first and foremost, rather than drinking buddies. It is a great chance to meet some first-rate people. Win or lose, it will be special. Just remember -- these are the good old days, since FFC have only been in Europe a whopping TWICE in their history, and this is only the second major cup final they've ever been in! Ouch! That's worse than the Cubs. Or the Bills (my team, so it's ok that I say that). This has been the longest spell they've EVER had in top-flight football, so it's been quite a ride.

Of course, if they lose, it's all your fault.

I'll be the one in the white Europa polo shirt -- just come up and greet me.

No way.. another Fulham/Bills fan? A decade ago I met someone who said Fulham weren't very good and I was hooked, figured "ah, the more the merrier!!" Little did I know...

I suspect tomorrow will make the scenes at Calico's look like a knitting party.

A BIG thumbs up to the supporters there today. It was odd seeing EVERY monitor on the FFC match, as well as the big screen AND having audio. Normally, that is reserved for MU matches. Thanks also to Jack and his staff for freebies. I think I still am not sober.

I realize that we may never again go down this road, as it's been since 1975 since we were last in any Cup Final. We should look on this with fondness. I know I shall. A victory would have been soooooo nice, but -- alas -- it was not to be.

My only regret is that the lads did not hear the constant chanting coming from our section of the bar. It was actually loudest when we were losing in extra time. I hop that Woy and the lads realize how much this cup run meant to people around the globe.

I know that I would have been totally gutted if it were not for the presence of the other FFC faithful. Until next season (or the World Cup!)

My whopping great big photo album.

Yes, there are FUSA members there in unposed shots. They are in their natural habitat, drinking beer and watching footy at an odd hour.

It was good to see the gang and good to meet new people.
