It’s Friday Nights Lights for the West London Derby part two. That’s 3pm on the east coast and the match will be televised on the USA network.

Will Fulham pull a double? Highly doubtful but not impossible.

Will Willian celebrate this time? Hopefully. (I’m just going to leave it at that or I’ll have to drag out the soap box and bitch about players who feel they owe more to another team than the one that they’re actually currently playing for.)

Will any of Fulham’s or Chelsea’s new signings see the pitch? Probably not but I may be surprised.

This is the last match of the four from which I figured that Fulham may get four points. They have three. Four means a draw with Chelsea and I’m okay with that.

I took the afternoon off to catch it live. I'd love to get out of there with a point.

Really entertaining first half, gave as good as we got. Wished Willian tried for goal instead of attempting a headed pass to Mitro on that brilliant cross from Tete. Lucky Havertz looper hit the post near the very end of the half.

PS. Am I the only one that prefers Tosin-Ream partnership over Diop-Ream?

PSS. Gladly take the point and stay ahead of the Scum. Tete MotM, Rrrrrreeeeeeeeaammm saving off the line when Leno brain cramped preserved a fully deserved point.

One of the better 0-0 games I’ve seen. We did have chances to win. To think of it, they spent more on their last two transfers than the Transfermarkt “worth” of our whole squad. 4 points off Chelsea this season. Not bad. Not bad at all. I’m just blown away by how the same players who looked lost two years ago are phenomenal this year. Hard not to credit Marco. Whatever he’s doing, it’s golden.

Tim Ream. Not sure I have the right words, and I’m a writer. Legend. He makes our whole defense work. I’m not sure I have a favorite between Diop and Tosin for Tim’s partner, but Tim will retire in a year or two. We need a Tim heir apparent, and neither Tosin nor Diop are making a strong case for themselves.

Anyway, I am am so happy I fell in love with Fulham in the late 90’s. So much fun now.

So pleased. Ream was terrific. Most everyone was. Good day at the office.

Only way this would have been better is if we had lucked out on a goal. Stellar effort by everyone. Personally, I’d like to see an upgrade to the Tosin-Diop combo with Ream. How about CCV?

On a completely different note...was it just me, or were announcers Joe Speight and Andy Townsend more focused on Chelsea than Fulham? They almost seemed like homers, with their dissection of scum's new signings starting and the tactical changes and what can they do different or better to turn things around, and so forth. Sure seemed that way to me. Just a short gander through the extended highlights, but that's what popped out at me. The tone was like, "yeah, Chelsea's one of our 'big' London clubs and the creme de la creme of our league and our country. They have to get better. It's for the greater good. But us? Just wry observations of good passages of play, and what a great job Marco's done with what he has to work with.
I'm calling B.S. on these two.

Update: Couldn't find much on Joe Speight, but Andy Townsend made 110 appearances for scum between 1990-1993, his second longest stint, followed by 134 appearances for Villa.

Here are the highlights, but I feel like they are missing a bunch of action. I could only follow the text feed, but I remember there being a Willian header to Mitrovic and Ream cleared it off the line late. None of that is in the clips below:

The BBC feed felt very similar, especially early in the match with every step, touch, and shot of Fernandez breathlessly reported.

Since I only followed the text description of this I was reading a lot into the lineups and the roster changes. One word came to mind for Chelsea: Panic. So many new players starting, so many coming in as subs. It seemed desperate.

A different word came to mind for Fulham: Confident. The two new guys didn't even make the bench. Silva believes in the guys and the system he's got and he isn't going to bring anyone in until he's ready.

When was the last time Fulham got 4 points in a season on Chelsea? I need to go look that up.
