And showing his versatility playing on the right side of the pitch!

Our biggest loss last summer was losing Scott Malone at left back and if we can't sign Matt Targett I think that our biggest loss might be at left back once again. Still doesn't change my opinion that we've had a good transfer window so far though.

Nor mine. It would be the height of hypocrisy to complain about this window. Just keeping and extending guys like Cairney, MacDonald and Ream was huge, but getting Mitro back from Toons was gigantic. And adding Schurrle, Fabri, Le Marchand and Seri? The rest will be just gravy.

I WOULD turn a cartwheel if I could generate enough forward motion...but that ain’t happening, so.... There’s a very real temptation to get greedy here. With a week left in the window, I’d be ecstatic if we were done. But we’ve got another whole week to strengthen the side even more, so why not? I say go for the gusto! Let’s get Pulisic!!!

2-2 result at CC vs. Celta Vigo. If this is our opening day lineup vs. Palace, I guess I’ll live with it. Fabri, Seri, Schurrle and Le Marchand, with Ryan moved back to left back. Looks like Johansen, Odoi and Bettinnelli are the odd men out. Funny how we’ve suddenly found the goal again with Mitro back. Might be the most important piece of the puzzle.

GJ said during the match that Odoi will have to miss the first two matches of the season due to his red card in the playoff. He thought that was probably why Odoi didn't see any game time today, although I would not be surprised if he is still an odd man out once he can return. It was surprising that Bettinelli wasn't even on the bench.

I had read that Betts was nursing an injury before the Sampdoria match. Maybe it’s still lingering.

I feel bad for Betts. He deserves a chance to compete with Fabri. He was colossal for us last season.

So what's the deal with it taking 3-4 weeks for Mawson to be available? Was he not in training for Swansea - they started their season two days ago and I assume that he would've been in the starting lineup had he not transferred out. I find it odd that certain players can transfer on Wednesday and make a start on Saturday, but others take an entire month.

I believe Mawson is returning from an (knee?) injury at the end of last season.

Or we could just stockpile defenders and try for a club record number of clean sheets.

Took a while to catch up. I want a team that can stay up. I do love the club for what they are and I don't expect a arsenal, tottenham, etc. I'm just worried about the back 4. Perhaps my comparison was wrong.

ESPN FC says we made another offer to Southampton for Targett today (warning: you have to scroll WAY down to see it). Also in the same "live" rundown, somebody named Pete O'Rourke says we've agreed to a loan with Sevilla for keeper Sergio Rico, () and that we've pipped Villa and Boro for Bristol's Joe O'Bryan ().

Here's a snip of the Targett offer, in case you're like me and too lazy to scroll through too much CRAP!

I've had the feeling for a little while now that Southampton was pricing Targett out of reach. I can't blame them though. It's probably the same thing that Fulham did for Sess and Cairney.

Less than 3 hours to go, should be an interesting day. I've heard Bryan from Bristol and Hugo Mallo from Celta Vigo.

On another interesting note, Spurs are the only team that has not signed any new players. I know that they have a solid core, but... nobody?!?
