C’mon Disastros! I like nostalgia, but I don’t want to revisit the World Series that dominated my elementary school days. The Yankees and Dodgers met 3 times in 5 years from 77-81.

If the Astros win tonight, the sound you hear will be the collective moans and wails of sportswriters and broadcasters with all the major newspapers, magazines, and television networks. If the Yankees win, you'll hear the same sounds from Casa Hatter.

And we're off to Chavez Ravine - Game 1 for arguably the two best teams in baseball. Can't wait.

Holy Heat Wave Batman. Oct 24 and it's going to be 100 degrees at first pitch . The hot Santa Ana winds will be howling, not sure how it will affect conditions at the Ravine (the stadium is generally protected). This hot and it usually becomes a bullpen game, and the Dodgers' ranked #4 in pen ERA (#1 in NL), the Astros ranked #17 in baseball.

Pulling hard for Houston, but they have zero chance if they bat like did against NY. I'll pick the Blue Poo in 6 and hope to be wrong.

103 right now where I work (about 10 miles west of the stadium). I’ll be watching with the comfort of air conditioning, thanks very much.

Game 1 review: starting pitchers who work quickly, throw strikes and get outs equals a reasonable amount of time for a very good game. Keuchel made a couple of extra mistakes than Kershaw didn't (or at least got away with) and that was the difference. Should be a good series.
P.S. Those 5 second squeezeback commercials between batters debuted by FOX, SUCK!!! Wonder which suit(s) dreamt that crap up? Better yet, which suit(s) at MLB ALLOWED it? Beyond obnoxious.

Somewhere, a few years back, MLB sold its soul to Fox. If Fox wants, MLB gives -- giving the All Star Game "meaning;' instant replay; extra round of playoffs; extra time between half innings for commercials; on field interviews at AllStar Game; and now mini-ads between batters.

    and Joe !$%!$%!^#^# Buck

The next 2 games are advantage Astros. Both Rich Hill and Yu Darvish are very familiar to Houston from those 2 AL West days w/Oakland & Texas.

George Springer is turning his bat into sawdust w/his grip pressure. He's swinging at balls in the dirt and staring at pitches down the middle. He was a monster in the regular season and has to get it going

What an insane game. Poor Astro fans, that was a tough way to get the franchise's first ever WS victory.

    • Dodgers w/only 2 hits through first 9 innings, but still had a 3-1 lead in the top of the 8th.

    • 17 extra inning HRs in World Series history, there was 5 extra inning bombs in this one game

EDIT: Who said in Spring (besides every expert & Angels fan) that the Halos wouldn't impact the Fall Classic?? Former Halo Cameron Maybin was sent to Houston late in the season and last night recorded the first stolen base of the series...FREE TACOS on Nov 1st at Taco Hell er' Bell

Back on my "over=managing" hobby horse. Roberts pulls Hill with a lead ... in the 4th inning ... after giving up a total of 1 run. While still holding a 3-1 lead, Roberts uses a total of SIX pitchers by the end of the 7th inning. At one point in the 9th, he had one reliever and one bench player left, and that last choice reliever gave up the winning runs.

The Astros and the Dodgers are perfectly matched to make for a stirring series. If only someone could nail Roberts' ass to the bench and let his starters qualify for a damn win.

They wouldn't be doing this if Lou Brock or Rickey Henderson were still active and playing in the World Series.

Astros up 2-1. The most important game in any 7-game series is game 4. There's a world of difference between being 2-2 and 1-3.

Man, the players on both teams are putting on a show -- talent, discipline, skill, spirit, intelligence, poise. This is already a great World Series.

They still could, but the promotion would be over the by the first inning of Game 1 every year, Lol.

In order to win it, unlikely heroes must step up. How about Brad Peacock? 3 2/3 innings of stellar relief from him for his first career MLB save.

Peacock has been stellar all season. So last night was some well deserved recognition.

Hoping the Minute Maid bump continues and the Astros keep rolling. It was nice last night to get those early runs. These 0-0, 1-1 games are stressing me out.

I'm glad the west coast is enjoying a good series. I've only seen one game from start to finish in this one. Bah humbug.

    Holy crap I'm tired.

It's a shame that the networks have so much control over game times. I'm sure that some left coasters would complain, but it wouldn't be crazy to have the weekend games start at 6 or so east coast time.

And college football? NFL doesn't play Saturdays and there was a Sunday night NFL game on last night. The way the game is with all these specialized pitchers who throw to one or two batters and leave, maybe they should start at 10 am?
