Here ya' go Hatter. Your boy is staying. Somebody likes him at the club, at least. Let's hope he gets a chance to show what he can do. Good for him.

So Huddersfield apparently "beat" us to this player. Whoop dee. I don't really like headlines like this. It infers that we dragged our heels or were somehow incompetent. We'll get a striker, and he may well turn out to be better than Monsieur Mounie. As for being "beaten" to a certain player, who cares? Not the end of the world, in fact, far from it. Odds are they'll be relegated at the first asking anyway.

This is huge. No one saw this coming except the player and club. It demonstrates a HUGE commitment on the part of the club. It tells everyone "we're serious about competing." That hasn't always been the case. It is now, and it's beyond encouraging. It's a thousand positive words I can't even think of right now. Even if we don't work out a deal with scum for Kalas, it's been a great off season so far. With the roll we're on, I'd be shocked if we DON'T agree a fee for Kalas. Then all we really need be concerned about is injuries. Take heart, Fulham Planet! It's all good right now!

I was so blinded by the glory of the Tom Cairney signing this morning that I failed to take notice that we signed a central defender: Marcelo Djaló from Deportivo Lugo, a second tier LaLiga team. At 6' 4" he would be the tallest player on the back line.

I'm calling bullshit on this one, sports fans. No attribution, no named or unnamed sources cited, nothing. This is pure conjecture based solely on previous dynamics that is yet to be proven, the worst of lazy journalism...make a preconceived scenario fit the appearance of "facts" and create a story where none exists. All for a few more papers sold or extra clicks to make a few more pennies. Disgusting.

Yeah, and that ain't Lucas Piazon wearing number 20, either.

Seems Scott Malone is a Huddersfield target. The article discusses their capture of (supposed) Fulham target Steve Mounie but, way down at the bottom, also mentions Malone.

Piazon and Kalas were on loan, so there's no way that they would be at a preseason camp without a another deal (loan or permanent).

I enjoy seeing the youngsters mixed in with the first team.

And it's official, Malone is going to Huddersfield: http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2017/july/05/malone-joins-terriers

This is the first black mark in the transfer window. Malone was my favorite addition to the team last year and I'll be sad to see him go. I really wanted to see more of him at left back and Sessegnon forward on the wing. Congratulations to him though on moving up to the Premier League.

Good for him. Can't quibble with the opportunity to play in the biggest league on the planet. I'd rather lose him than Sess or TC. We're still OK. Would like to see us pick some new blood to keep up with the attempted upgrades by our competitors in the Championship. Success rarely carries over from one season to the next without significant upgrades, and just keeping the players we have won't be enough (although it's a darn good start). If we lose Piazon and Kalas, we need to get better players to replace them. And that's the trick, isn't it? But we've got a winning team in Tony and Slav, and you gotta believe they can repeat what they accomplished during the summer window last season. It worked out then, and I have faith that it can work out now.

Fulham has signed 23 year-old defensive midfielder Ibrahima Cisse from the Belgian club Standard Liege where he made just 11 appearances last year. I'll try not to hold it against him that he's Belgian, but given my personal experience with Belgians, I don't think this is going to go well.

When I first moved to England -- during World Cup 1966 -- and after somebody explained the promotion/relegation thing to me, I noticed that both Sheff Utd and Sheff Wed were in the top flight [first division then]. Two things confused me about that.
    1. Were they one club with two squads -- one that played only on Saturday and the other that played only on Wednesday.
    2. How great must they be to be ahead of all those London clubs being as how Shefford was such a small village.

I asked the second question out loud in the Black Swan in Shefford -- also known as "The Dirty Duck" -- and after the general hilarity had passed, I was assured that I wasn't the first Yank to make that false connection.

Just a reminder, folks. We DID sign Ryan Sessegnon, when NOBODY thought we had a prayer of a chance in hell of doing it. Here are the highlights from the England U19's win over Germany. Enjoy.
