What's the Brit term for this one? "Spared our blushes." That's what Mr. Birnbaum did. Lots of work to do.

I was at the game. It was cold (by LA standards) and wet in the first half. The sun sort of came out for the second half.

Michael Bradley had a classic quality Bradley game.

    Lee Nguyen looked good.

I thought Jerome Kiesewetter did some things for his 15 minutes. Pretty active.

Kellyn Acosta has now played LB for the US U-20s and USMNT, but never for FC Dallas. Odd position selection.

Ethan Finlay looked like a guy who was making his first cap and was trying too hard.

Even though he scored, I thought Michael Orozco was crap once he shifted to RB in the second half.

Had totally forgotten they were playing yesterday. Biggest surprise when I saw the highlights is the sun was shining anywhere in SoCal. It was literally pouring most of the day everywhere but Carson apparently. I'm sure Iceland wasn't at full strength, but there was enough of the team that qualified for the Euros ahead of the Dutch and Turkey in their group that this was a good test.

Watched the replay this morning and was pleased overall with what I saw. The defense, however, ... both Iceland goals were very well taken but should have been contravened in the buildup. You have to feel for Robles conceding two goals before his first save.

Despite TT's non-stop gushing about Jozy, I still don't see much of a difference. He took his goal well and had a nice layoff to Bradley, but I didn't see any pressuring nor much channel running.

LaxAttack's comments re-Finlay, Bradley, and Orozco are spot on. I was also very impressed with Kiesewetter. He did what an attacking sub should do: put pressure on the defense, and keep turning them. Even more than big, strong defensive mids, I really love wide players who head for the goal line and cross the ball. I'll be watching for this kid in the future.

and, although his defense was invisible, one second half assist and the winning goal by the half-time sub? What can I say but, "Give that man a partridge!"

It was raining/pouring off and on all during the tailgate and first half. The sun came out to play for about 30 minutes in the second half.

I would put on a poncho then it would stop raining for like five minutes and look like it was clearing up. I would then take the poncho off then it would start raining again.

me too (re forgetting...Oh Canada this Friday) - the header for the winner was from a great cross (Bradley) and also a great finish. DC United supporters pipe in on Birnbaum. Also who's this Kiesewetter? Apparently plays for Stuttgart but he's flown under my radar - ran at folks as if on fire though.

Another German-American. Has mainly played with Stuttgart's reserves, but he got some playing time with the first team in a couple games at the end last season. He grew up with John Brooks in the Hertha Berlin academy.

He won the Golden Boot at the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship this past fall. He is likely going to pair up top with Jordan Morris at the Olympic playoff games against Colombia in March. But he also plays out on the right wing (like he did on Sunday).
