They're bad. Currently just above the drop zone, 3 wins, 5 losses at home. We should win. Which means we'll probably struggle to earn a draw. Gonna be interesting to see who Curbishley (I'd assume) trots out there. Who knows?

I think it may be just as interesting to see the tactics employed in the first match after Kit's departure.

Doesn't seem like we'll have a new manager appointed in time. Certainly not in time to employ new tactics. Has the club said who will coach the team? I assume Curbs.

Yes, Curbishley has been in charge of training over the break and will be the coach for the time being.

Never mind, Peter Grant is in charge:

So Peter Grant ran training the whole time. And Peter Grant will serve as caretaker. Not Curbs. That should have been an easy one to get right. Caveat emptor, tabloid readers.

Woohoo! First we had Curbs who's brother managed The Who and now we have Peter Grant the former Led Zeppelin manager? We must be on a stairway to Heaven

Not sure it was made up...seems like Curbishley did take over training.

Have too many seasoned veterans not to be ready to play an inferior squad no matter who is giving the pregame talk. Have no idea what to expect, but hoping for a positive result.

Yeah, I went back & listened to Grant's MKD preview & he did say Sean, Mark & Alan took training early in the week & then he came in took training & will coach the match. Point remains though, most have spent the week thinking Curbishley was running things as caretaker b/c that's what was reported but it's inaccurate.

Well, you know what happens when you assume.

But it's not a stretch of the imagination. Who would you imagine being in charge in the short term, someone with Curbishley's experience or Grant's? I'm scratching my head on why Grant was picked over Curbs?

    That's a very good question.

Did anyone ever consider that the club is happy with Curbishly in the role he was hired for and would prefer to keep him there?

That would make way too much sense, Don.

Yes, but I don't think he's staying much longer. He was first hired when Rene took over under the premise to help a inexperienced coach and was let go when Magath came in. He gave a very good interview when he was let go and very complimentary of the club, which I think helped in him being hired again when another inexperienced coach, Kit, took over. I think if the club hires an experienced coach, he's been made redundant. I think Joe hit upon something in his Curbishley post in the "Who's Next.." thread, Curbishley has been blackballed.

A very interesting lineup. GJ really likes Kavanagh, so we'll see what happens. No Ream, no Richards, no Kacaniklic. Hmm.

I read "elsewhere" that Ream went off injured in the TNT match. Is that true?

I think I heard or saw that as well. Can't remember where or who.

Didn't get to follow much of the game, but sounds like we didn't play well. At least we learned that Grant isn't a candidate.

He was subbed, but the announcers didn't say it was for injury purposes. He and Jermaine Jones did collide heads that looked awful (stopped play for awhile, but pretty sure it was in the 1st half). If anything it would be a concussion.
