Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile.

Toronto & KC getting it started tonight (if this was the NBA, this wouldn't start until Nov). These two teams have a heavy dislike for each other stemming from a series in Aug. Literally a coin toss series, I'll say heads and go w/the Royals. who you got?

Royals. Giants were one Bumgarner better last year and I think Price is the new Kershaw.

Or is Kershaw the new Price?

I'll take the Royals as well. Go with pitching & defense in the playoffs. That said, KC doesn't seem to have that magic from last year...aside from game 4.

I'll go with the Cubs over the Mets but I think that could be another coin toss.

I'm rooting for Cubs v KC with Chicago winning. Can't stand the Jays or any team from NY. In fact, if it's a Jays/Mets WS, I won't watch a single pitch. Did the same with the Subway Series.

If the Toronto fans throwing stuff on the field are idiotic, how do you describe the fans in the upper deck that were throwing things on the fans below? I've got nothing.

Losing game 4 will sting for quite some time but, considering I was hoping for a .500 season, I'll take a wildcard victory @ Yankee Stadium and a full 5 game divisional series.

I'm going with KC. After the Astros laid a hurt on them in game 4 so bad that our idiotic governor prematurely congratulated them on getting to the ALCS, the Royals kept their cool and erased the Astros lead with textbook station-to-station baseball -- as good a team effort as I've seen in the post-season in a long time. I don't think Toronto has the pitching depth.

As I've stated before, unlike many Cardinal fanatics, I do not hate the Cubs. Since no one seems to be picking them, I think it just might be their century. Are they the best team left? Nope. Neither were the '06 Redbirds, but they've got the rings. Call it destiny, the law of averages, whatever you want. Will Wrigleyville survive the celebration if they do it? I guess we'll find out.

Welp, the small bears are in deep doo-doo. The long ball barrage has dried up, thanks mainly to the stout young arms of the Amazin's bright young starters. Their shutdown ace is suddenly out of form, and they look quite beatable. Headed home, but I don't see them sweeping the Mets at Wrigley. Maybe it's not their century after all....

Long way to go, but suddenly the home teams are 4-0 as oppossed to the earlier (9-12) rounds. Cubbies were 7-0 this season against the Mets, but that was before Cespedes' arrival (how much $$ has he made in his stint in NY? An extra 60-70 million I'm guessing). The third base coach brain cramped in a tied game in Game 1, by wrongly sending a runner home on a hit to Cespedes (the best defensive arm in baseball). It was a play you'd only try against a weak armed fielder. The runner was out by 10 feet, and that Cespedes psychology lifted the Mets.

KC is the grand master vampire. Holy water might scar them, a well placed cross can repel them, but unless you drive a giant stake in their heart they just keep coming.

Stat of the Day: Daniel Murphy has 62 career Home Runs in 3354 career at bats, he has 6 in 30 post season at bats. He hit another one in his 5th straight game last night.

You know it's the Cubs when...the winning run comes in from third on a strikeout that would've ended the inning if not for the ball getting past the catcher.

Least shocking development is the teams w/the better pitching are in total control.

Poor Cubs...such a historical, by-the-book way to fail. Any Red Sox supporter should offer hope to the Cubs - the comeback can happen.

Gotta hand it to the Cubs, they keep finding ways to lose in heartbreaking fashion. Beat the hated rivals then go out with a whimper in the next round.

What do they say in Chicago? Next year? If they get another top line pitcher, next year should be as good a chance as any they've had...at least in my lifetime.

Now all I need is KC to beat Toronto, and then I have a World Series that I can be happy about regardless of result. Wait. There's no chance of Tim McCarver or Joe Buck broadcasting the games is there?

Would you take 1 out of 2? McCarver is long gone, but Buck will be on the call if Fox is covering it.

Murphy with his 6th straight game with a HR. Biggest problem for him is the Mets now will have 6 days off, and hitters generally cool off with that much time off.

I'm still in the Royals camp - want to see them close it out in 6. But after that 1-hit performance by Estrada through eight, the Jays may have grabbed some momentum to turn their orbit around.

And, at least some of the World Series may be played in October. Jeez.

The Jays bats haven't traveled though & Kauffman is a tough place for power hitters, especially in the fall.

Fantastic opener to the World Series last night, although The Memsahib and I could only last until the end of the 11th.

great baseball game. drama, errors, heroics, tragedy and granderson was 1 step away from throwing out the winning run. that game set the bar high for the rest of the series.
