A decent weekend for various Yanks in Europe.

Bobby Wood is back from his latest knee injury and scored in Germany today (I think when healthy, he has the potential to be a good forward as he is only 22 but staying healthy has been an issue for him the last few years).

Bedoya scored in France last Friday.

Everyone's favorite Kevin Bacon lookalike scored.

And Fabian Johnson had a game-winning assist.

I love this. Gotta keep some Yanks in Europe.

I watched the Bournemouth v. Bolton match. Ream was overwhelmed in Bolton's defense, but that's no slam on him; Bournemouth is a goal scoring machine. They'll be next season's Blackpool in the Prem.

I didn't watch today but Ream was won the Supporters' Player of the Year award for the second straight season.

Outstanding. That's the same award that Stu Holden won.

Bobby Wood signs for VfB Stuttgart. And I will be able to watch him and the team next season again.

That's great for Bacon. My only concern would be playing time but I have faith in the kid and think he'll make the most of his opportunities.

Sounds like there are a number of clubs in for Hyndman as he enters the final year of his contract, including Heather's Stuttgart, per Ives.

This is the trick with the Academy in the Championship. We seem risk averse to playing the young kids too much and can't keep up with the wages other clubs in their countries' top leagues can pay. Even with regular playing time, the money would be a huge challenge. Without it, I think when our prospects have international success at the U21 level, we're pretty much destined to lose them. Best to take the money and reinvest it in the squad to achieve the club's immediate objectives. Then when/if we get back to the Prem we can slow those floodgates. Unfortunately it means we'll likely miss out on the enjoyment of seeing the more promising players in this first crop come good at Fulham.

I'd prefer he continue to get pitch time with the Galaxy.

Zardes is one of those players who does a lot of good things (always seems to be in the right spot) but then he has these moments where his first touch is just atrocious. Hopefully he continues to get better. Staying with the Galaxy and playing with Keane, Gerrard, Dos Santos, etc. wouln't be the worse thing in the world.

I hear what you're saying, but I'd like to see Zardes played as a striker. It seems that with the Galaxy he's always going to play on the wing or as a withdrawn forward. I'm thinking that in Europe teams might be more inclined to take advantage of his skills and pace rather than his work rate and willingness to mark and defend.

Never fear Don. Fulham now have the chance to avenge Luton's loss.

Lynden Gooch (US U-20 midfielder) also made his pro debut and played the last 30 minutes for Sunderland in their 6-3 win.

Seeing the kid's name, it made me think of another Gooch and how the second half of his career would of turned out if he hadn't wrecked his knee. I remember when Mr. Fog had his staredown of Borgetti as his avatar.

Zelalem finishes his loan deal to Rangers. Where is the thread making fun of the Scottish Prem? If that division is bad, what must the second division look like? The kid is going to go up against the likes of Greenock Morton & Dumbarton.
