    I like Chris Hughton.
    I don't know why.
We should get the most qualified candidate available.
On paper, that's Tony Pulis. But is he the best fit? I don't know. Steve Clarke is not too far behind him. I'd be OK with him, too. And if Mr. Symons is not ready to seize this opportunity, when would he be?
Did I mention that I like Chris Hughton? I've figured out why. He's the anti-Felix. He's a nice guy, players seem to like him, and he's got a decent track record with teams at our level of finance.
But hey, so does David Moyes. Is he ready to jump back into the fray?

I'm a fan of Hughton as well, yet I'm irrationally skeptical about Moyes. Not because he was unsuccessful by ManUre's terms, but maybe because he ego was too large to mix with the other egos of the Red Devils. I could be wrong, but he's probably a pipe dream at this point anyway.

Current odds from what I can see:

    Chris Hughton 6/1
    Kit Symons 6/1
    Alan Pardew 7/1
    Glenn Hoddle 8/1
    Neil Lennon 8/1
    Tim Sherwood 8/1
    Tony Pulis 8/1
    Steve Clarke 10/1
    Alan Curbishley 20/1
    Billy Davies 25/1
    Bob Bradley 33/1

Murphy, Moyes, Di Matteo and a slew of others are also listed at 33/1

It would appear that Mackay and Hangeland weren't the only interested party in the neighborhood of Craven Cottage today.

And he's got his own idea about whom Fulham should be looking at...

Who was apparently in attendance as well.......

    Who's Scott Miller?

He's mostly been the fitness coach since 2007. I mentioned in a previous post, you don't survive that many turnover in managers without being respected. So while I don't know his methods, he must be good and apparently he's respected by the players as well.

Jumpy, I think you misread the tea leaves there. Steve's 1st tweet was from Thursday, not yesterday. I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure I've read before that he didn't move the wife & kids when he left Fulham this summer. Scott Miller was at the game with Brede and Oisin Rogers (whoever that is). I think Steve was just replying to who he is...not touting him for the manager's job. He has less experience in that role than Kit.

It's interesting when former players return following the appointment of someone as manager, even if in this case it's just a caretaker role for now. I remember at A&M when we hired Sumlin, a ton of respected former players from his time there chimed in in support of him and showed up for the press conference when he got the job. That type of seal of approval is often a good sign. It certainly has worked out that way with Sumlin.

Whatever the purpose, it's clear to see what this club means to guys like Brede and Steve that they've continued to keep a close eye on the situation despite moving on to other clubs.

As for who's next? Kit Symons ticks all the boxes that most Fulham fans have cried out for except for the experience part. He spent many years with the club as a player, then coach so he knows the values of the club and understands what the people up and down the chain need. His record coaching the Academy is exemplary. We already know he can communicate his message to the team as he's been doing so successfully with much younger players. He certainly sounds confident in his vision for this team and sounds like he's well organized, which is important for a manager. Who knows, we could have a hidden diamond right under our nose. I'm hopeful that Khan was sincere in saying he'd give him a chance and that he'd be considered for the position. Now it's on Kit to show he's up for the task.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Norwich do this same thing last year when they replaced Hughton? It's been working out pretty well for them this year.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing when the announcement was made. Very similar cases, although Houghton was liked by the players?

I don't think he was disliked, but if memory serves, there was some frustration with his stifling of their freedom to attack. That switch reminds me more of our switch from Hodgson to Hughes. Much like Roy, Hughton had instilled organization, discipline and a strong positional sense in the side defensively. Now that Adams has taken the shackles off a bit, they've found a better balance. It was too late to keep them up last year, but it's served them well in the Championship.

Unfortunately, Magath didn't instill anything in this side before being lifted other than a (reported) strong sense of disdain. I guess we can credit him for improved fitness.

To paraphrase Bo Decker in Bus Stop, I wouldn't that the Mirror's word for a cloudy day.

Houghton is presently a paid consultant for club, so this falls under Captain Obvious standards, even for the Mirror. With his cv, makes perfect sense that he'd merit an interview at minimum.

Now the Tugay and Tigana stuff...that's more in line with the Mirror's standard.

"“I’ve got the right five men to help us find the right man for Fulham,” Khan said. “They each bring something similar, and yet unique, to the search. They understand what we want to achieve and they’re committed to the process. And they very much respect Fulham. They know this is a special job for a manager and they want to play a role in making sure we get this right for everyone who plays for Fulham or loves the Club. And we will.”

The members of the committee, in alphabetical order:

David Daly. Daly is Senior Director of Club and Federation business at Nike. He is a lifelong Fulham fan who, as a child, regularly attended matches in the Hammersmith End and continues to be a Season Ticket Holder from his office in Amsterdam. Daly’s keen understanding of the Fulham culture and professional experience in the world of football will offer a distinctive point of view in the managerial search.

Huw Jennings. Jennings has more than 20 years of experience of developing young talent for the professional game. He is responsible for managing the Category One-ranked Fulham Academy programme through the U21 level, covering areas from player acquisition and contracts, staff engagement and deployment among many other important duties. Jennings’ views on ensuring continued player development at the First Team level will be valuable in the managerial search.

Brian McBride. A popular captain at Fulham and hero for the United States men’s national team, McBride remains linked to the international game and his passion for Fulham is as vibrant as ever. Given the rich history of U.S. talent at Fulham, McBride’s service to the Chairman and search committee will strengthen that connection as Fulham rebuilds for the future and ultimately eyes global growth.

Danny Murphy. The spirited former captain at Fulham and based in London, Murphy is only recently removed from his playing career and therefore offers an important point of view on what will work best for a manager in today’s football environment and, in particular, at a club with the tradition and respect as Fulham. Murphy’s love for Fulham and desire to contribute to his former club are both unqualified.

Niall Quinn. A former Ireland national team star, Quinn briefly attended the Fulham Academy before playing 17 seasons in English football with Arsenal and Manchester City before landing at Sunderland, where he would forge an impressive career as a player, manager and chairman. In his first season as chairman, in 2006-2007, Quinn led the Black Cats back into the Premier League and kept the club there for six seasons. Quinn was heralded at Sunderland for his ability to connect community with club.

All five committee members spoke last week with Khan, and all but McBride met in London within the past few days with Mark Lamping, the president of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League and a non‑executive director on the Fulham Board of Directors. Khan met with Daly last month in London, and Khan and Lamping met with McBride during the summer at a United States men’s national team match in Jacksonville.

Last week, Khan told Kit Symons, the current caretaker manager, that he is considered a candidate to assume the role of first team manager on a full-time basis.

“But this will be an exhaustive, thorough and deliberate process,” Khan said in his programme notes on Saturday, Sept. 20. “No decisions will be made for the sake of deadlines or convenience. I plan to summon a number of qualified advisors for input, some within or close to the Fulham family and others who will bring a perspective from outside the Club. In the end the decision will be mine, but the choice will be made with the benefit of excellent and highly respected counsel. This process is already underway and I look forward to tackling the challenge and opportunity ahead.”"

love the thought of McBride still taking on Fulham duties. Pretty good committee there.

Interesting group put together by Khan. The most encouraging name on that list is Danny Murphy. The captain has been the most vocal critic in terms of being in the public spotlight, yet Khan was aware enough to know how much the supporters revere him. Throw in McBride and Jennings and Kit will at least be afforded a real chance to grab that job permanently.

That is an interesting group. The optimistic side looks at the diversity of opinions and experience they bring in the search for a new coach. The pessimist in me believes there may be 'too many chefs in the kitchen.' But, what do I know...

Also, the cream of tomato soup that will be distributed after Curbs is hired is sublime!!!

And the pessimist in me says that this all window dressing. That this committee can make whatever recommendations it wants, but that doesn't mean Khan and his team will follow those recommendations. Get a group of well-liked, well-respected individuals, make it look like they are contributing, then do whatever you want, regardless. Hope I'm wrong.

After reading and listening to a couple of Murphy interviews, I don't expect him to be quiet if such a thing happened.
