Well, we're off on The Road to Wigan Pier Saturday! Steve Bruce has done wonders with that side, and they're very well placed. How important is chub-o to that side? Well, I maintain that if Birmingham had not forced him out early last season, they'd still be up and Wigan would be in the CCC.

The good news for Wigan is that their first choice CB is back from suspension. The good news for us is that their first choice CB is Titus Bramble!

If we're going to get anything out of this match, we need to (a) depend on quickness up front, and (b) keep the ball on the deck. For this reason, I'm "requesting" this lineup for Saturday.

    ------------------------------ Schwarzer --------------------------------

    Paintsil ----------- Hughes ------------ Hangeland --------- Kallio

    Davies ------------ Murphy ---------- Etuhu ---------- Dempsey

    -------------- AJ ------------------- Erik of Nevland -----------

Subs: Zuperduper; Omozusi, PK, Baird; Gray, Brown; Zamora

[like my colorful midfield on the bench?]

    My prediction? 1-1

I don't see PK not starting unless he's hurt or suspended. Otherwise, I agree with the lineup.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Konchesky benched here, but I doubt that will happen.

Erik Nevland starting? GJ may need a tissue.

Since I want to shave my beard, I'll go with 2-1.

I predict a 1-0 win , yes I know we are away, but they must have got some confidence from last Sat , I going to put a 20 spot on Zamora to score first.
If the bookies have any balls I should get 16/1 at least.

This has 0-0 written all over it.

Wigan have scored just 13 goals at home and conceded just 24 total, once place lower than us.

We've conceded just 10 on the road. Which, considering our (arguably) dire away form, is AMAZING! -- better than Villa, Everton, AND Arsenal.

Also, there's no tv for this one at all. So with feeds everywhere getting clamped down expect just GJ everyone.

I'm with you. Wigan are a very good side this year, and since we've got just 3 goals in 11 road matches, I find it hard to predict a win. But I'll happily take a point on the road to a team as good as Wigan.

I must say, this is probably one of the more important games of the year. Since we're not in any relegation battles (though it is close), we need to focus on moving up. Does Wigan deserve to be in 7th place or do we? I know we won't catch them with a win but it would be nice to get on their tail (as well as the Spammers'). I think it can be done -- start AJ and Nevland up front, Demps in the midfield. That's actually a decent attack out of Fulham. COYW!

1-0 Fulham. We won't give them anything. Dempsey will score again.

Why would you want to write 1-1 all over a puppy , thats animal cruelty .
Or is something getting lost in translation.

A barmaid could draw 1-1 on the head of a Guinness!

I think it will be a 0-0 or 1-1 draw.

Our first away win will be at Old Trafford - it would be the Fulhamish thing to do.

Hoping for nil-nil (or any draw) but expecting a 1-0 loss. We won't play like we did on Saturday b/c we never play the same style on the road as we do at home. That's why we have the lowest road goal total (3) in all 4 levels of the Football League (and the 5th division as well, fwiw).

so, will there be a match? I keep hearing that the match may be in trouble weather-wise.

I really don't want us to be three matches in hand.
