There are some great people up for CNN's Hero of 2008 and none of them are politicians, celebrities, or famous. If you feel like some good news, read their stories; you are bound to find one that makes you want to vote. The winner gets $100,000. I'd make a FUSA poll out of this but I think that there are too many candidates.

I voted for Phymean Noun. She is a survivor of Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia which had an absolutely diabolical disregard for human life. She has started schools to educate Cambodian children who survive by rummaging through garbage dumps. While I liked several of the other candidates (like the woman who gets homeless people running), I think Phymean deserves and needs the money the most.
